<Glanzmann> Debian: I packages the speakersafetyd and bumped the kernel and m1n1. For me, I need to restart the speakersafetyd after a reboot for sound to come out of the speakers: systemctl restart speakersafetyd
<Glanzmann> marcan: Two small nitpicks that I saw while packaging it for Debian: https://tg.st/u/0001-Make-blackbox-install-location-match-the-systemd-con.patch
<mps> Glanzmann: does speakersafetyd works?
<Glanzmann> mps: I did not try to blow up my speakers, but it makes noise.
<Glanzmann> mps: Hoewever, when I reboot, I need to restart it once to make the song that play come out of the speakers.
<mps> for me it doesn't start at all
<Glanzmann> mps: I see, for me it starts.
<mps> tried on j293 and j314s
<Glanzmann> mps: I only tried the air.
<marcan> it will only start on j313 because that is the supported model

<mps> aha, this explains
<FroggiesAreCool> hi
<FroggiesAreCool> anyone with blown up speakers? x)
<mps> I will wait till it is officially released
<marcan> Glanzmann: please send github PRs
<Glanzmann> marcan: Will do the same.
<FroggiesAreCool> marcan do you think translating the installation script would be nice?
<marcan> you'd need to hook up some kind of gettext thing, possibly using the built-in gettext module and a bunch of scaffolding. there's no i18n support in the installer right now, so that's a bunch of refactoring that would be needed.

<marcan> I'm not sure how worthwhile it is right now though, maybe it makes more sense once it evolves into a GUI installer? at that point we'd be shipping third-party modules and there's stuff to make i18n a lot less painful there.
<FroggiesAreCool> sure

<leio> now there's maybe an idea how I could contribute (GUI)
<leio> especially if it could be gtk-rs not cocoa (or whatever it's called these days) native :)
<j`ey> mps: it's released now!
<mps> j`ey: thanks for info. It is for air only
<j`ey> yep
<mps> and I don't have air to test
<j`ey> oh, right, missed that
<mps> but nvm, this is good news. more people will test

<kidplayer666> I kinda am curious to know
<kidplayer666> Whether I won the loudness war was used by marcan to destroy his speakers
<jn> i think it was
<kidplayer666> This fills me with happiness
<MichaelLong> here's the thing: currently I'm happily running a gentoo linux installation alongside of macOS. With the upcoming fedora remix release I'd like to install it too - as a kind of a base line installation. Is a multi-boot linux installation a supported scenario at all?
<j`ey> yes
<j`ey> you just run the installer again!
<MichaelLong> j`ey, nice!
<MichaelLong> thx
<ChaosPrincess> just make sure your gentoo install uses disk ids in fstab, not numbers
<MichaelLong> yeah it uses UUIDs

<marcan> jn: I destroyed them with a sine sweep actually, but then I made a point of cooking them completely with IWTLW before taking it to the Apple store (and still had trouble convincing the guy that they were damaged)
<marcan> I could smell them while playing that back

<ellyq> Chef's recommendation: bacon fried on speaker coils
<mps> few years ago I fried speakers on gru-kevin chromebook
<mps> buggy driver or DTS
<tpw_rules> marcan: the alt distro stuff for the speakers is really appreciated. but now that fedora is going to be the predominant distro, what's the alternative for https://github.com/AsahiLinux/PKGBUILDs/ ?
<tpw_rules> is there a readup on how fedora packaging works?
<j`ey> problem is that a bunch of stuff, like speakersafetyd is in the 'normal' repos
