<stintel> ooh nice
<tobhe_> chadmed: I was wondering, speakersafetyd lists minimum version requirements for wireplumber and pipewire in the readme. Are those actually hard requirements or just the oldest you tested?
<chadmed> tobhe_: important patches for asahi-audio landed in those versions so we're not supporting anything below
<tobhe_> ah right, s/speakersafetyd/asahi-audio/ I meant.
<chadmed> speakersafetyd itself shouldnt care, but the DSP graphs, util clamping stuff, etc simply will not work at all if your version is out of date
<chadmed> yeah thought so
<tobhe_> I am asking because I wonder if it makes sense to backport those patches instead of the full thing
<tobhe_> I did already include this one https://git.launchpad.net/~tobhe/ubuntu/+source/wireplumber/commit/?h=ubuntu/mantic-asahi&id=f0da3810aa54b93bcd829f2b373944558ed621d9
<chadmed> theyre pretty small so they should be fine to backport
<tobhe_> thx! looks doable
<chadmed> and for wireplumber
<chadmed> and then everything dmitry sharshakov did from 0.4.15 and earlier
<chadmed> im not going to spam the logs with more links
<tobhe_> that's fine :)
<tobhe_> thanks! that was very helpful
<chadmed> what versions are shipped with mantic?
<tobhe_> wp = 0.4.14
<tobhe_> pipewire = 0.3.79
<chadmed> yeesh ok
<chadmed> wireplumber will probably be fine
<chadmed> pipewire might be a struggle
<tobhe_> if it turns out to be too much work I'll just see if I can import the newest debian version
<stintel> haha you folks are describing the reason I run gentoo
<mps> does speakersafetyd in current works without pipewire, i.e. on plain alsa

<ahdeb[m]> mps (IRC): as far as I understand, yes - speakersafetyd only uses alsa not pipewire.
<mps> ahdeb[m]: this is also my understanding, but wasn't sure. thanks
