n3ph: chaos_princess: looks to me like that MR assumes a full rootfs/chroot with dev libs?
<chadmed_>
also yeah apparently the AUR mods explicitly told them to get out of the AUR so yknow...
<chadmed_>
also i think we should drop qt5
<n3ph>
chadmed_: Ah, the way mkurz is currently building the rootfs?
<n3ph>
Let me remove qt5 support then
<n3ph>
What's the rule of thumb here? Just keeping `qt6` as a use flag or using a generic `qt` flag instead?
<n3ph>
chadmed_: If there's nothing else needing adjustments, I can squash if preferred.

nah leave it as-is, atomic commits :)
<chadmed_>
i want to test it before i merge so ill do that this arvo when i get home from work
<chadmed_>
for dropping qt, i would leave it as qt6 because that's what is used in ::gentoo and is automatically selected by desktop profiles etc
<n3ph>
alright, then I am going to at least adjust the commit message

hello, im trying to install steam on gentoo and sommelier failed to build with error: "No supported Python implementatoin installed"
<Geust>
i have python3.13 3.12 and 3.11, i dont know what the problem is
<chaos_princess>
just add sommelier to package.provided, you do not really need it

Geust: just dropped the dependency
<chadmed>
chaos_princess: any value keeping it around for wl forwarding temporarily? pretty sure that doesnt really work at all right?
<chaos_princess>
i wanted to drop it after this gets merged, but whatever
<chaos_princess>
and yes, wl does not work at all
<chadmed>
ill leave it in the overlay for now then as an optional thing but i dont think theres any point keeping it as a hard dependency if its flakey
<Geust>
oh that's nice, so i don't even need xwayland
<chaos_princess>
you need xwayland
<chadmed>
xwayland on the host is absolutely required
<chadmed>
everything in the vm speaks x11
klausvalka_ has joined #asahi-alt
<Geust>
oh, it's not part of any dependency tho, do i have to put it @world
<chadmed>
it isnt pulled in by your WM/DE?
klausvalka has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<Geust>
ohh im gonna have to rebuild that, i built it without xwayland
<chaos_princess>
yea, everything steam related is pure-x11, and will probably stay that way for a bit

<j`ey>
oh i wasnt trying to do that, I meant +muvm as well
<j`ey>
