got further. m1n1 wasn't processing all ringbuffer messages due to a race I introduced while trying to make the msg reading friendly to the tracer to avoid out of order tracing
<jannau>
seeing replies before their request is a little annoying
<jannau>
back to "[nifiedPipeline.cpp:7019]VideoInterface::Plug callback: AP not ready yet, mark hot-plug pending" I was already at the beginning of the year
<jannau>
problem seems to be that dcp thinks I should be using the iomfb endpoint/protocol

\o/ I have finally a picture, sort of. it's black but at least the display is synced
<jannau>
mostly with C m1n1 code, needs to be triggered by python script due to missing smc-gpio in m1n1. the dp2hdmi converter needs to be powered on using smc gpio
<jannau>
on the m2 mac mini, m2 pro (and m2 max mac studio) should be trivial to support as well
<jannau>
can I interest someone in writing m1n1 smc support? do we even know how to quiesce/shutdown smc and restart it in linux?

<sven>
nice!
<sven>
iirc SMC shutdown is just that usual sleep message with state 0x10 or so
<sven>
SMC was the easiest coproc to „shut down“ because it never fully shuts down but just stop communicating and because it manages its own buffers inside its SRAM anyway
<sven>
*stops
