<immibis> i assume peripheral DT nodes are meant to be arch-agnostic. doesn't mean they actually are

<apritzel> jkm: oh no, I am so stupid: of course I have to use "console=ttyS3,115200n8 earlycon" on the command line, not ttyS0!
<apritzel> so with just that change it works absolutely fine for me, on v6.6.3
<apritzel> I think this USB line is the last you see via earlycon
<apritzel> so to summarise: mainline U-Boot, DT from mainline U-Boot, mainline kernel, sunxi_defconfig
<apritzel> we have the alias set to serial3, not serial0, as we did for the LCtech Pi, where the debug UART is also not UART0
<apritzel> jkm: please let me know if that works for you

warpme has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<jkm> sure, I will test and report back
<jkm> but anyway I surely *had* output on UART and booting process hang in the middle...
<jkm> I mean on 6.6.3
<jkm> apritzel: could you share your 6.6.3 dmesg somewhere?

<apritzel> jkm: the output you saw is courtesy of earlycon, and earlycon leans on just stdout-path in the DT

<apritzel> please note that this was with PSCI deliberately disabled in the U-Boot config, as part of an earlier experiment
<apritzel> (hence just 1 CPU)
<apritzel> but that should not make any difference to the UART/output problem, I saw the whole PSCI process working fine earlier yesterday
<jkm> apritzel: so are you able to boot 6.6.3 on T113-S3 with PSCI and 2 CPUs activated?
<jkm> because I'm still not
* apritzel rebuilds U-Boot with mangopi_mq_r_defconfig ...

<apritzel> yep, works absolutely fine, I see both CPUs and the prompt
<apritzel> jkm: if you haven't done so, please try with sunxi_defconfig
<jkm> apritzel: great, thanks
<apritzel> and by using the DT from U-Boot ($fdtcontroladdr), see the pastebin
<apritzel> jkm: have to leave now, good luck, and try to replicate my setup (all mainline components and default configs), then take steps towards your setup to see when it breaks
<jkm> apritzel: sure, thank you again!

<duclare> Btw is there any reason we couldn't change console speed e.g. early in spl if we wanted to go faster than 115200?
<duclare> Sometimes I get the vibe that each board has a "chosen speed" that is treated like a constant, but is it really constant?
norton has joined #linux-sunxi
<MoeIcenowy> duclare: it's a complex thing, for allwinner boards usually you are safe to up to 1.5Mbaud
<MoeIcenowy> of course this requires rebuilding every boot stage thing
<MoeIcenowy> because of default clock tree setup, going higher is something dangerous (although possible
