<smaeul> apritzel: SPI NAND is most likely SLC, which is why there is little read disturbance
<smaeul> apritzel: btw there really is no such SoC as "T113s". There is T113-i and T113-S3 (and third-party T113-S4)
<apritzel> well, fair enough, though I gave up with *any* silicon vendor marketing names a long time ago ;-)

<triskit> Jookia: This is the lcd patch series you were mentioning? https://lore.kernel.org/dri-devel/20231030072337.2341539-2-contact@jookia.org/T/#u
<Jookia> triskit: Yes
<triskit> I am looking to use one of these panels too (not exactly the same size, but similar).

<Jookia> I also have a driver for the FS028VG047
<triskit> Happy to test and see if the reset timing makes any difference.
<Jookia> But I haven't tried to mainline that
<triskit> I see
<Jookia> For now I'm just leaving the reset timing, I guess the question is what really to do. I might re-send it
<Jookia> Someone commented that they didn't like that I added a second set of registers and that if the panel works with the Leadtek registers then I should just use those
<Jookia> So maybe someone will give feedback on whether that's a good idea or not
<triskit> I suppose there's no documentation on what those registers do? (I admit I haven't had a chance to look in detail)
<triskit> I was looking at using the FS024, so not identical either.
<Jookia> Part of my patch series does reverse engineering to document most of the registers, but most the differences seem to be in voltage adjust
<Jookia> Maybe it's fine? Maybe I could just have a patch table? It's really unclear to me, I'm not an LCD expert, I just ported register sets over
<Jookia> and went through public data sheets
<Jookia> Fascontek were nice and provided panel init code and okayed the use of them in open source code
<triskit> I don't know much about LCDs either. I have a coworker I can ask who might know, though.
<Jookia> Sure! Any help is appreciated

<junari> apritzel: Have you tried loading the mainline u-boot on your tablet with a523?
<junari> jernej: Could you tell me how I can diagnose the cause of problems with hdmi output? I'm using your latest h616-val branch, image output does not work with some displays on h616/h618 devices.
<junari> If I add to the cmdline video=HDMI-A-1:1920x1080@60e I get sun8i-dw-hdmi 6000000.hdmi: PHY PLL failed to lock
<junari> without that sun4i-drm display-engine: [drm] Cannot find any crtc or sizes

<apritzel> junari: I have some patches, but am stuck in 32-bit (non-secure) FEL, which makes debugging and development harder. I just tried that first shot once on an SD card, but no output, as usual
<apritzel> junari: I will definitely come back to this later this month, but meanwhile there were higher priority things
<apritzel> the sunxi-fel patch is upstream, so if you have some hardware (preferably without secure boot), let me know
<junari> no, I have nothing. But it looks very interesting considering the price

<smaeul> I also bought that A523 tablet, and haven't tried anything with it yet. it's surprisingly usable with the factory software :)
<apritzel> yeah, it indeed felt less sluggish than the other Allwinner tablets, those: "for kids" ;-)
