<csharper2005> Do you want me to drop commits named "scripts: *" from the PR (https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/pull/4195)?
<csharper2005> and then send them to the mailing list and discuss there. Is that correct?

<Habbie> got a fritzbox 7390 for 10 bucks - 512MB flash, 128MB RAM, but turns out the SoC is not supported in openwrt or linux
<Habbie> pity, would be quite nice
<slh> there no hope for that fusiv vx180 SOC
<Habbie> so i read :)
<KGB-1> https://tests.reproducible-builds.org/openwrt/openwrt_bcm47xx.html has been updated. (100.0% images and 99.9% packages reproducible in our current test framework.)
<Habbie> slh, just in case you know more - any idea why there is no hope? in theory, there should be GPL sources for the fusiv somewhere?
<slh> the SOC has always been 'troubled', even with the OEM firmware it's 'difficult'. Ikanos never bothered about upstreaming/ mainline, so there's nada, drivers are also incomplete
<slh> anything is possible, but... you'd need a L O T of something to get anywhere
<hanetzer> Habbie: I have no idea, but as a theory, even with all the gpl and datasheets in the world some chips are just ass or may even have tivo crypto :P
<Habbie> slh, right
<Habbie> slh, and i'm guessing it would only open up a few select devices
<slh> the fritz!box 7390 is pretty much the only device using that SOC
<slh> I have faint memories of a single other device elsewhere on the world
<slh> but it's really rare
<slh> and the company never released a successor
<slh> so interest in that SOC is basically non-existent
<slh> especially as the VDSL modem never worked sufficiently well
<slh> with the OEM firmware
<Habbie> ack
<Habbie> and the dect doesn't work with openwrt on any fritz device i think
<Habbie> not that i care much
<slh> there is zero dect support in linux<fullstop>
<Habbie> https://boxmatrix.info/wiki/Property:Fusiv lists that other device
<Habbie> (learned about that site today - it's like deviwiki but different)
<slh> yes, there has been proof of concept code for some dect pcmcia card over a decade ago, but it never went anywhere
<Habbie> right
<Habbie> ah, and https://boxmatrix.info/wiki/Speedport_W_722V is 7390-based anyway
<Habbie> it baffles me that a SoC could exist for a single customer
<slh> the company just tanked, more or less
<Habbie> no surprise, i guess
<slh> well, they were bought up by QCA in the end, but I have no idea why
<Habbie> now i wonder if the 7390 can address the 4 gbit ports separately, or if i just bought a switch with a uselessly huge amount of RAM/flash ;)
<Habbie> but that's no longer an openwrt question
<slh> Fritz!OS doesn't give you any configuration for the switch or VLANs
<Habbie> oh fun ;)
<Habbie> well, dualband still beats my previous two thrift store finds
goliath has joined #openwrt-devel
<slh> AVM is still good at doing good phone features on a home budget
<Habbie> yes
<Habbie> and they even have dect power switches and thermostats/radiator controllers now, i understand
<slh> so a security supported device can fill that capacity very well, e.g. I'm using a (lantiq based) 7430 as SIP pbx, SIP ATA and DECT base, behind my OpenWrt router (and locked into its own VLAN)
<Habbie> right - running Fritz!OS ?
<slh> yes
<slh> http://ftp.avm.de/fritzbox/fritzbox-7430/deutschland/fritz.os/FRITZ.Box_7430-07.29.image it's only used for that, no modem, no routing, no WLAN
<Habbie> i also have two 7490, unopened
<Habbie> not sure i really needed the 7390 ;)
<slh> those are still supported (albeit not for that much longer)
<Habbie> i noticed the 7390 is on 6.x while the 7490 is on 7.x
<slh> (and there have been attempts to get the 7490 working, without DECT or FXS support though)
<slh> the 7390 has been EOL for a couple of years now
<Habbie> ack
<slh> the 7490, as its successor, is still being sold
<Habbie> ah
<Habbie> i got the 7490s in 2016, my email archive tells me
<slh> I wouldn't want to use Fritz!OS as router, but it's a good/ cheap 'disposable' phone centre
<Habbie> ack - if only i wanted a phone centre :D
<Habbie> any idea if freetz is better with vlans or the switch?
<slh> I've never looked that much into freetz
<Habbie> ack
<Habbie> my impression is 'ssh and other extra packages' but i only spent 5 minutes looking at it today
<slh> yes, it's still the OEM firmware - just with some restrictions (telnetd) removed
<Habbie> ack - hence no public downloads for builds either

<dwfreed> I have a SIP DECT base; I wonder if I could GPL them...
<slh> probably binary dect drivers
<slh> I had a hard time deciding between a gigaset n510 pro dect base or a (low-end, but still current/ vendor-supported) Fritz!Box, I went with the later as I trust AVM more in terms of security support than Gigaset (I also need the FXS port for an analogue fax machine and appreciate the pbx features) - and imho the fritzbox is easier/ cheaper to replace, when it falls out of support (with the next low-end
<slh> fritzbox model from the used market)
<dwfreed> I needed a simple wireless SIP phone system, so I got a grandstream base and 2 phones
