<Lechu>
If I upload the same (uncompressed) kernel via TFTP and put it at the load addres, and then "go" there, it starts right up.
<slh>
some bootloaders are very picky in terms of compression parameters
<Lechu>
I went as far as to alter LZMA parameters to match the stock ones.
<Lechu>
and seemingly it is working - at least the uncompressed size matches.
<Lechu>
Any other idea how to tackle that, other than hooking up JTAG?
rua has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<Lechu>
Just tried to do that, and I left it after 2 hours of swearing and verifying connections 42 times, and even re-enabling the JTAG GPIOs from U-boot using md.l command, because, apparently, U-boot itself disables it on its startup.

stintel: it comes with almost zero documentation, though there's a functional prebuilt filesystem, but no SDK disc, just tells you to download it from the extranet *sigh*
<neggles>
in theory you could drop a 2nd FMC on it and use it as a 7-port 10GbE router though
<neggles>
seems to have 12x octeoniii cores and a shitload of fancy DSP

If you set up the wdt before you boot, you'll be able to find out exactly where things broke down

Friends setting up new router and new network config are curious when 22.03.0-rc2 might come out [which I 100% may not be known, and I didn't see anything in openwrt-devel to suggest]
<mrkiko>
rsalvaterra: I have a zero knowledge on this, but I would say this is not going to happen

rsalvaterra: thanks!!
<Lechu>
hurricos1: this is actually quite brilliant idea. I need to figure out how to pull it of, though, because the watchdog seems disabled during U-boot stage, and it gets disabled explicitly upon breaking boot sequence.
<Lechu>
And once broken, I found no command to actually resume that, "boot" does nothing, just as if Ruckus hooked a different function to do that. If JTAG doesn't work for me, Ghidra it is then, probably.
<rsalvaterra>
mrkiko: But u-boot support is only part of the equation. Someone will have to do the same work for MT7621 devices dangole did for the RT3200. ;)
<Lechu>
Besides. I had quite a chuckle when I found out where the dual-boot image selection is stored in flash. It is in the same sector as MAC addresses, and while changing it, U-boot rewrites whole erase block. What can go wrong? xDDDDD

hah, it actually worked xD

But now only by TFTP. Loading uImage freezes the same way at "Uncompressing kernel image". Yet still, this is a huge step forward. And also a way to maximize storage space ;-]
<Lechu>
Time to retune LZMA encoder once again, I guess.
<Lechu>
Or since I can boot uImage now, just use LZMA loader and be done with it, at the same time reuse both firmware partitions for storage.
<Lechu>
This way I can also let go of generating Ruckus header.

On openwrt 22.03.1-rc3 ... friend (not yet so OpenWRT-aware) is I'm trying to set up port forwards from the WAN to specific LAN IP addresses .... and having it not functioning;-
<enyc>
(see the dnat rules that got generated in the dstnat_wan chain). But the dstnat chain (which has the prerouting hook) doesn't call `dstnat_wan` when the input interface is WAN. Instead, it calls `dstnat_HomeLAN` when the interface is the LAN which doesn't have any rules in it.
<enyc>
They are going to try resetting 22.03.0-rc3 and redo the config anyhow!

I physically connected the WAN port to something and that caused it to call the chain.

In other words, it seems to just not call the chain for an interface that isn't connected.

Which I guess is intended as an optimization?
