<SpectreDev_01> Can someone help me get the kernel starting, it's not starting
robimarko has joined #openwrt-devel
<SpectreDev_01> robimarko: I got it building but the kernel won't start, there's no logs at all as to why kernel won't start
<robimarko> SpectreDev_01: Can you push your tree somewhere?
<SpectreDev_01> Yeah I already did, commits are mess tho because it's just to get it up and running then I'll clean it up
<robimarko> Step number 1, do not use stable branch for new devices
<robimarko> Step number 2, completely remove that downstream DTS
<robimarko> That is the cause of not booting
<robimarko> All you need to get an initramfs image booting in your DTS is basically UART node and its pinctrl if custom pins are used
<SpectreDev_01> Ah ok thanks

<lu_zero> what happened to libpcre?
<lu_zero> I just updated the openwrt-23.05 trees and I'm getting
<lu_zero> has a dependency on 'libpcre', which does not exist

<SpectreDev_01> Ok I got Openwrt initramfs to boot on MX4200 but I'm getting this
<SpectreDev_01> cpu cpu0: SoC ID 399 is not part of IPQ8074 family, limiting to 1.4GHz!
goliath has joined #openwrt-devel
robimarko has joined #openwrt-devel
<robimarko> SpectreDev_01: That is expected as you are having IPQ817
<robimarko> *IPQ8174
<robimarko> I think at least, let me dig through the ID-s
<robimarko> Yeah, IPQ8174
<robimarko> I will add it to CPUFreq driver as it has the same OPP-s as IPQ8071/2A

<SpectreDev_01> Ah I see
<SpectreDev_01> robimarko: how do I get the board2.bin and the files that end in .ipq and .qca
<robimarko> SpectreDev_01: You have to package them yourself, but leave WLAN alone until you get everything else working
<SpectreDev_01> Ah ok
<SpectreDev_01> Here's the log
schwicht has quit [Quit: My MacBook has gone to sleep. ZZZzzz…]
<SpectreDev_01> robimarko: seems quite a bit is broken
<SpectreDev_01> Also need custom pinctrl for uart (for now using ax3600)
<robimarko> Sorry, but most of your DTS is completely broken
goliath has quit [Quit: SIGSEGV]
<robimarko> Pinctrl nodes you added are completely broken, MDIO reset GPIO is just copy/paste from the decompiled DTS
<robimarko> And obviously the reference is incorrect
<robimarko> And so on
<robimarko> You are trying to do enable everything at once
<robimarko> And please dont copy/paste whole DTS
<robimarko> You are trying to use partition table and NVMEM cells for completely different device
<SpectreDev_01> Yeah I need to sort out partition table
<robimarko> You did not, its a miracle that DTS even compiles at all
<robimarko> Its not even part of the TLMM node at all

<Habbie> Mangix, discussed it with my coworker, as far as we're concerned libre2 could just go away from openwrt, it's not an important feature for us really
<Kevinjil> Hey, after a long time of using OpenWRT I tried to port it to a HP switch that was partially supported with another version number and PoE power budget. I have made a draft at https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/compare/main...Kevinjil:openwrt:device/hpe-jg921a?expand=1 but would love some direct feedback before submitting a PR. An important question: is renaming the existing definition, which is new in the prereleases, allow
<Habbie> mm
<Habbie> i have a jg924a
<Habbie> oh, that one is supported already. i had no idea!
<Kevinjil> I have the JG921A and JG926A available for building / testing ;). I should also have a JG922A somewhere, but would have to look for it
<Habbie> Mangix, ah
<Habbie> uhh, what
<Habbie> ah
<Mangix> I wonder
<Mangix> was dnsdist broken before?
<Habbie> i don't think so
<Habbie> i've done plenty of builds on 21.02, 22.03 and master over the last two years
<Mangix> that is, it listed re2 as a dependency but was it really used?
<Habbie> hmmm
<Habbie> i don't have old logs to check
<Habbie> august 10, 22.03 i think
<Habbie> root@OpenWrt:/# dnsdist -V
<Habbie> dnsdist 1.8.0 (Lua 5.1.4 [LuaJIT 2.1.0-beta3])
<Mangix> Habbie: the way to check is with some old version and running ldd
<Habbie> Enabled features: cdb dns-over-tls(gnutls openssl) dns-over-https(DOH) dnscrypt ebpf fstrm ipcipher libeditr libsodium lmdb outgoing-dns-over-https(nghttp2) protobuf re2 snmp
<Mangix> If re2.so.$d was missing, how did it link to it?
<Mangix> statically?
<Habbie> # ldd /usr/bin/dnsdist | grep re2
<Habbie> libre2.so => /usr/lib/libre2.so (0x7fba7b240000)
<Habbie> that's on 22.03
<Mangix> that's very interesting
* Mangix looks
<Habbie> indeed
<Habbie> i was just wondering about that, yes
<Habbie> ok, so that's explained
<hauke> I created a project on github for the openwrt 23.05 release: https://github.com/orgs/openwrt/projects/4
<hauke> I am just playing around with this feature
