<permadude> Hi, I've noticed that git.openwrt.org is extremely slow from here in Australia, is this expected?
<permadude> There are some historic notes about this in the forums, one from USA and the other also Australia but back in 2019.
<permadude> I am using the NBN (National Broadband Network) over HFC (coax)... and seeing a burst of data, and then backing off to stall the transfers.
<permadude> weird thing is if I switch to Telstra (our mobile network) via a hotspot, it works fine.
<slh> permadude: ISP peering from .au to the rest of the world can vary widely, there isn't really anything that could be fixed on OpenWrt's side. git.openwrt.org is 'just' a vserver at DigialOcean's data centre - how well your ISP connects to that, is a different question
<slh> but the git repos are mirrored to github, which might be better connected for you
<permadude> i've seen a couple of different ISP's have issues, but I guess it depends on the backbone they are using.
<permadude> Is it safe to switch the package feeds.conf from git.openwrt.org to github too?
<permadude> as in, are they mirrored well?
<slh> yes
<permadude> ok, thanks :)

<Sbeach92> or just changes between them?

<dhewg> stintel: have you looked into shoving udnsd into otbr instead of that other crap? ;)
<russell--> permadude's router was upside down
<stintel> dhewg: I thought of it but that's where it stopped ;)
<stintel> at least its' not using avahi+dbus
<dhewg> yeah, it seems like the best fit, but looks like support for it has to be added
<dhewg> no idea if it's doable or if udnsd has to be extended first to support the stuff otbr wants

<Ansuel> Sbeach92 depends... honestly I would include in the pr all the dependency and write that in the PR message all in CAPS that is does depend on that. Having a full pr makes the thing easier to test by other user/maintainers

<Igel> booting openwrt can be fairly kickass
<Igel> there potential here? worth adding a boot menu?
<PaulFertser> github says the repo is empty
<Igel> yes the intention is that this is a public domain and os-community holla'
<Igel> (the reason for this communication)
<Igel> there potential here? personally id fking run on openwrt bare metal, are you kidding me? \m/

<hurricos> blocktrron: Unlikely, but mind putting u-boot-msm back out of private? I was going to set up my BDI2K and copy your tinkered-on RAMBOOT to SYS_TEXT_BASE and branch to it.
<hurricos> I know your reasons for not endorsing this board, and would understand if "disinterest in public supportability for this board" or even "disinterest in increasing [your hardware costs] due to market demand" are reasons to keep it private.
<hurricos> If either of those, please allow me to send you my BDI2K and/or MSM hardware for your use, including a few dozen MSM466 outdoor units. They're going to continue to collect dust otherwise.
<hurricos> s/please allow/perhaps you would like me/
<hurricos> You owe others nothing on the board, and frankly I'm unsure if my BDI junk is even useful to you, given your background. But I'd prefer to offer.
<hurricos> I'm going back to writing my H8 bootloader -- apologies if I miss a response for a couple of days.
