<clover[m]> "Not sure. But when you build a..." <- Yeah I’m using laptop_defconfig
<steev>
srinik: clover[m]: yeah. the splat comes from unmuting EAR_RDAC, muting it again, the splat goes away
<steev>
however, without unmuting that, it does not play audio in headphones
<gwolf>
steev: The panel in question is boe,nv133fhm-n61
<steev>
bleh
<steev>
okay, so it doesn't give us the actual panel
<steev>
oh, maybe you do have the boe
<steev>
what about sudo parse-edid < /sys/devices/platform/soc@0/ae00000.display-subsystem/ae01000.display-controller/drm/card0/card0-eDP-1/edid
<HdkR>
Oh we have different panel makers. My VendorName is IVO
<HdkR>
On my X13s anyway
<HdkR>
InfoVision R133NW4K R0 according to edid-decode. Can actually buy this off AliExpress for $72 :D
<steev>
HdkR: he has a c630
<steev>
konradybcio: actually, which panel doesn’t matter, I guess, right? The supplies should be the same?
<steev>
HdkR: get yourself the 2K compatible panel
<steev>
Gwolf’s panel… I have a hack around here from Doug that would let him squeeze out some more power savings, but BOE nacked it afaik
<steev>
Or maybe it was for the ivo
<HdkR>
steev: 2K compatible panel?
<steev>
i'm sure one exists
<HdkR>
Isn't 1920x1200 already "2K"?

steev: just verified that headphones works here as well with rc7, including switching back and forth by disconnecting and reconnecting the headphones
<jhovold>
not sure why you need to manually unmute anything, or exactly how you do that, but if its just toggling some mixer control then that splat does indeed indicate a bug
<jhovold>
srinik: ^

steev: jhovold, so if its just mixer setting that is triggering this, then its easy to debug/reproduce. I will try to reproduce this and see the best way to fix this..

HdkR: no, 2k is 1440p (2x 720p in both directions)
<konradybcio>
steev: yeah i think it shouldn't matter, unless lenovo made a different mobo layout for the other panel
<HdkR>
Such strange terminology

HdkR: half of the technical issues arise from letting the marketing teams do too much ;)
<HdkR>
I've heard too many terrible television marketing saying 1080p is 2k
<krzk>
HdkR: it is pretty close, just 80 pixels missing :)
<krzk>
and simplifying some people actually call it that way, even if technically it is not the same
<konradybcio>
sony marketed 3840x1644 screens "4K"
<konradybcio>
(even though they had read 3840x2160 years back)
<krzk>
konradybcio: 3840 is one of 4k resolutions :), at least in common knowledge. Youtube 4K is 3840, I think
<krzk>
ah wait, the vertical is 1644 is too low
<konradybcio>
youtube calls it 720p/4k/whatever regardless of the aspect ratio too

I can put mine on a pastebin somewhere if you want something known to boot OK... however as far as I remember I just did something fairly brutal to make it. Along the lines of grep -v "is not set" johan_defconfig | cat actual_debian.config - > .config && make oldconfig
<HdkR>
Grep the config for anything with 8280 in the name and enable them all :D
<krzk>
I need the distro config
<konradybcio>
I have ubuntu concept running, will send you the config that they ship on /boot (ikconfig is disabled)
<konradybcio>
check email krzk
<krzk>
thanks!

the debian config that is used is the laptop_defconfig in the sources for the older version that comes with it - i've tried my best to stick with it on newer kernels, but not always successfully

that could be - mine have a mic - clover[m] can chime in since they are the one who mentioned the unmuting of ear_rdac needing to be unmuted to get audio output

mine don't have a mic

they are just big headphones

ah

Note that there are two different orientations of headphone jacks out there.

my 6.3.8 audio plays fine in headphones, but not in the 6.4.0-rc7
