Is battery drain when the x13s is powered off (via shutdown -h) a unique-to-me experience?
<zdykstra>
I shut the machine down, unplugged it and had the battery drain from 100% to 79% over the course of maybe 4 days
<zdykstra>
Powering it back up had it flash the screen then turn off again, so I suspect it's not shutting off correctly. I haven't really tried to diagnose it though .
<craftyguy>
hmm I haven't noticed, I rarely power off mine XD

I noticed last night when messing with Windows that the led on the power button flashes a number of times when it’s shut down. I’ll have to check the same with Linux
<steev>
i do wish we knew what the amount means
<steev>
i've seen it go up to 20

when running a 6.7 am I expected to update the dtb with the one the kernel shipped with?
iivanov has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<steev>
generally, if something changes in it, you probably should
<robclark>
In _theory_ you can always use most recent dtb with an older kernel.. occasionally the theory breaks down, but not too much... newer kernel with older dtb might mean some features/drivers don't work like they would with same kernel but newer dtb. A play-it-safe option would be to keep the kernel and dtb matched, mostly because that is what will be better tested (rather than newer dtb and older kernel not intended to
<robclark>
work)
<HdkR>
Is a DTB provided by the bootloader considered userspace and should have the same backwards compatibility concerns as the syscall interface? :)
<steev>
i'd trust a dtb provided by the bootloader as much as i'd trust their acpi tables or an edid
<steev>
that actually reminds me, a friend has started digging into his (x86_64) acpi stuff, and it has been fun to see him go through things - he actually threw it on the web - https://x0rw3ll.com/re/acpi/acpi.html

laptop_defconfig doesn't build with QCOM_TSENS, though
<albsen[m]>
<jglathe_> "laptop_defconfig doesn't build..." <- which kernel?

<albsen[m]>
<steev> "generally, if something changes..." <- I been trying to redirect dtb to a different file so that I can match them, but for some reason neither of the following commands worked: kernel param: dtb=sc8280xp-lenovo-thinkpad-x13s-new.dtb nor the grub command devicetree sc8280xp-lenovo-thinkpad-x13s-new.dtb; I also tried, devicetree (hd0,gpt1)/sc8280xp-lenovo-thinkpad-x13s-new.dtb . I have the file in my efi partition right next to
<albsen[m]>
the previous file sc8280xp-lenovo-thinkpad-x13s.dtb which does work. how can I make it load the devicetree file this way so that I can configure my kernels with different dtb's?
<jglathe_>
6.7.1
<albsen[m]>
jglathe_: custom repo with patches or mainline?
<Jasper[m]>
I did see the firmware update, but not the changelog
<Jasper[m]>
I wonder what that could be
<konradybcio>
Oh hm, perhaps a security update for the installer and then the v1 was supposed to fix a flicker issue

Maybe a signing key changed
<steev>
I don’t remember it from back then, but I’m sure I applied it
<steev>
albsen[m]: jglathe_ : I just use the install-dtbs file that came with the Debian installer way back when (the custom one) - but, I also do devicetree /full/path/to/the.dtb (because I’m using fscrypt and not fde)
<steev>
So e.g. if I’m booting 6.6.13, it would be `devicetree /usr/lib/linux-image-6.6.13/qcom/sc8280xp-lenovo-thinkpad-x13s.dtb`
<steev>
jglathe_: oh, right, we discussed that over email didn’t we? Re:tsens
<steev>
Though. I think it’s at the point where I can add in a kernel hook
<jglathe__>
@steev yes. Built yesterday on the X13s with laptop_defconfig and was somewhat surprised to not see the temps today.
<steev>
you can submit a merge request to him; others have
<Jasper[m]>
steev: Ah yeah, SLAAC
<Jasper[m]>
interesting
<akawolf>
yeah, btw, I have no loud speakers for some reason, after I've installed new alsa ucm config I had for a while, but for some reason it stopped working (not sure what the reason is, maybe upgrading kernel to 6.7.1)
<jglathe>
with 6.7.1 its actually louder
