Is there a trick to reenabling bluetooth on X13s? I accidentally turned it off and although it looks like it has turned back on (e.g. good dmesg output) it doesn't actually work until I reboot. Is there something I can kick to avoid the reboot?
<travmurav[m]>
hm did anyone notice external display corruption on high resolution (2k) on 6.8?
<travmurav[m]>
this is on 7c1 when running at 1440p, works completely fine at 1080p...

<konradybcio>
travmurav: there's a history of such bugs.. any chance you wanna bisect that?
<travmurav[m]>
I could probably try
<_[m]123>
I run 2k+
<_[m]123>
4k gets diterhing on right side
<_[m]123>
never this level of artifacting though
<_[m]123>
had 1 reset on boot today and 1 reset when afk from laptop
<_[m]123>
not great at navigating journald to get correct logs

_[m]123: what (exact) kernel are you using?
<jhovold>
konradybcio: any more resets after disabling efivarfs? which distro is this with?
<jhovold>
_[m]123: which distro?
<jhovold>
danielt: have you seen any more external display resets since rc7?

6.8rc7
<_[m]123>
debian 12
<jhovold>
mainline 6.8-rc7 with not patches on top?
<jhovold>
with no*
<_[m]123>
I use steev defconfig and your branch
<jhovold>
ok, thanks
<jhovold>
external display?
<danielt>
jhovold: No. I've been able to turn my monitor off and on to my hearts content!
<jhovold>
danielt: thanks, i can't seem to be able to reproduce the resets here either, I just worry that it has only been papered over due to changes in timing
<danielt>
(to be honest I've no idea what depth of hotplug monitor off/on provokes... it cuts the display and USB and does enough to persuade the laptop to sleep but it leaves the charger running)
<jhovold>
I was suprised to find that turning the monitor off, or letting power save kick in, appears to trigger a full hot unplug
<jhovold>
my display doesn't come back after that witout manual intervention in X, works better with sway, which apparently does what is needed to reenable the display when it comes back again
<jhovold>
things clearly wasn't working very well before 6.8-rc1 either, but the runtime pm work means that the bus clock is now being disabled on disconnect which in turn led to the resets
<jhovold>
dgilmore: the hpd revert in rc7 seems to help with the hotplug detect issues I could reproduce, but perhaps you can try with the whole series reverted too:
<_[m]123>
I use an external samsung tv 4k and lenovo gen2 tb3 dock
<_[m]123>
multiple hdmi and dock replug - > nothing, turning around usb c -> works
<travmurav[m]>
konradybcio: well eh I guess bisect has ended quite early with me finding a commit on which dp doesn't work at all... :/
<jenneron[m]>
travmurav: revert it and continue bisect with it reverted?
<jenneron[m]>
or you can use git bisect skip, whatever works for your case
<broonie>
Or skip commits where the DSP doesn't work (but that'll tend to be slower).
<broonie>
snap
<travmurav[m]>
jenneron: no, I don't know /which/ commit broke dp, just that I landed in between the breakage and a fix while bisecting another thing...
<konradybcio>
jhovold: i haven't used the laptop for very long since disabling qseecom as a whole, but no crashes so far
<jenneron[m]>
travmurav: yeah that sounds like you want skip
<konradybcio>
as for the distro, currently it's ubuntu 23.10 + sddm + plasma-wayland
<travmurav[m]>
I guess I will try to bisect it again another day
<travmurav[m]>
since I think I should've also just bisected over drm/msm dir not the whole linux, which I realized only after I started xD

<steev>
i don't know what that means, but i've also been without internet this week as i've been moving (internet just installed today)
<agl>
steev: Ah Ok
<agl>
steev: And is the apartment you have now better?
<steev>
it's not worse lol
<agl>
steev: Is it bigger?
<steev>
smaller, but also almost $500 cheaper
<agl>
steev: Oh, that's an argument!
<steev>
yessir
<steev>
it's just me and my cat, we don't need much :D
<agl>
steev: You have a cat? What breed? Is it a male or female cat?
<steev>
female, tortie, i couldn't tell the breed, her mom was a feral that was trying to drown the litter
<agl>
steev: Oh, and you just happened to come across it?
<steev>
nah, friend saved them. long story short, some friends said i needed to get a cat or a girlfriend, so we have a cat now
<steev>
what i actually said is, i'd get a cat, but i want one that looks like <points at the mom feral>
<steev>
and my friend said... well i have her daughter and she looks just like her so... NOW we have a cat

<steev>
it happens, there are a lot of places here that don't allow pets
<steev>
and those that do, charge extra :)
<agl>
steev: There's another reason: the people who look after the apartments here have to look after the pets when I'm in hospital, for example. For example, I was in the clinic from December 19, 2023 to February 1, 2024 (6 weeks).
<steev>
yeah, that's fair too
<steev>
i'm lucky that i have a few friends who will pop in if i need them to

I'm back to bother yall about c630 things again.... I got gentoo installed and booted. I have a working keyboard but no working USB or Wifi (and probably BT) support. I used steev's 6.7.0-rc8 kernel with the config I found a few weeks ago and follow the instructions on this GH page.https://github.com/aarch64-laptops/build/tree/master/misc/lenovo-yoga-c630/wifi
