<abby> i've not had any luck getting my x13s keyboard to work with the defconfig merged into void's dotconfig, even when all the options are identical (except for a couple that seem wholly irrelevant, like preempt)
<abby> if i had to guess this means that something in void's dotconfig is set when it shouldn't be, are there any known module incompatibilities, things that should be blacklisted or turned off?

<leezu> Hello, has anyone observed that Chromium fails to launch it's GUI and infinitely repeats "ERROR:gbm_wrapper.cc(76)] Failed to get fd for plane.: No such file or directory (2)" starting with v120 and newer versions? I've reported this at https://issues.chromium.org/issues/331016650 but wonder if anyone knows of a workaround? Chromium v119 works fine.

<nicholascw[m]> <jglathe_> "earlycon=efifb, keepearlycon..." <- that doesn't seem to work unfortunately
<nicholascw[m]> tried boot option adding both earlycon=efifb and keep_bootcon
<nicholascw[m]> symptom being the same. I saw the dmesgs probing a bunch of things but totally blacks out before the password prompt appears, and dmesg printouts resumes once I enter my password blindly

<jglathe_x13s> different problem I'm afraid
<abby> I have pd-mapper running but charge_now doesn't seem to be available, all the *_now files return numbers except that one: cat: /sys/class/power_supply/qcom-battmgr-bat/charge_now: No data available
<abby> ah i see in the logs that it's not exposed

<agl> steev: Kernel 6.8.1 always crashes for me! I have now installed Debian on the internal SSD of the x13s, because I assumed that it is because the USB-C interface is not properly initialized/addressed to mount the root filesystem on the external SSD. But it turned out that the access to the internal SSD of the x13s does not work either. The 6.8.1 kernel crashes after 4 lines of output at the point where the root should be mounted. I have to press the
<agl> power button for a long time to shut down the computer. I now suspect that some kernel parameters are either too much or too little. I have had this problem before. Here is my line from loading the kernel in Grub. The UUID for the root filesystem is correct, I have checked several times:
<agl> ...
<agl> echo 'Loading Linux 6.8.1 ...'
<agl> linux /boot/vmlinuz-6.8.1 root=UUID=662afbbb-441c-47df-8b24-c51b51fa893e ro pd_ignore_unused clk_ignore_unused
<agl> echo 'Loading initial ramdisk ...'
<agl> initrd /boot/initrd.img-6.8.1
<agl> ...

<agl> oliver: Oh yes on libera.chat is it only necessary /nickserv , sorry
<oliver> ChanServ
<agl> I have never to do with the ChanServ
<agl> reboot ...
<agl> OK now it runs. I have startet 6.8.1 kernel and write this line unter this kernel :-)
<agl> exeat Thank you exeat and jglathe_ :)
<steev> i'm pretty sure that was part of my mention when i pushed out the 6.8 - since i am based on johan's stuff, the same cmdline options apply
<agl> steev: where do you get those with? Here in the channel, or where?
<steev> get what with
<agl> the new parameters
<agl> which ar neccessary
<agl> Thank you abby :)
<agl> There are other news which I don't know at this time
<jglathe_x13s> Re USB-C and odd things that happen: Booting from USB-C fails with I/O error eventually (looks like when plymouth is activated), same stick on USB-A works.

<jglathe_x13s> It's 6.8.1, same can happen with older versions (but less often)
<jglathe_x13s> now the interesting part: remove qcadsp8280 from the mix and it boots.
