robclark changed the topic of #aarch64-laptops to: Linux support for AArch64 Laptops (Chrome OS Trogdor Devices - Asus NovaGo TP370QL - HP Envy x2 - Lenovo Mixx 630 - Lenovo Yoga C630 - Lenovo ThinkPad X13s - and various other snapdragon laptops) - https://oftc.irclog.whitequark.org/aarch64-laptops
<Segfault[m]> I'm pretty sure the x13s modem functions like a dual sim one where one is the esim so even with that there you should be able to use a physical sim?
<bamse> jenneron[m]: vkoul made an attempt here earlier, but had some issue with soundwire crashing...then srinivas solved very similar sounding issue when doing audio on sc8280xp...so perhaps it's straight "straighforward" now, and vkoul can point you in the right direction

<jenneron[m]> bamse: well, i have audio working, but only through headphone jack. soundwire & speakers result in the same error for me as yoga c630, so i think my speakers DT bindings are as good as c630
<jenneron[m]> if vkoul has a solution for this i would like to see, otherwise i will have to try older kernel and bisect

<jglathe_> lollaritshe[m] I wouldn't say that, but I'm happy about every application that doesn't need it
<jglathe_> firefox nightly has jumped to 126.0a1 and is no longer refresh-broken
<lollaritshe[m]> <jglathe_> "lollar (it/she) I wouldn't say..." <- well i find annoying
<lollaritshe[m]> its janky
<lollaritshe[m]> also so many bad UX choices
<jglathe_> lollaritshe[m] I try not to feed this fire, I concur, though. I do MS Dynamics NAV for a living. So I have to use it daily...
<lollaritshe[m]> i dont want to hate ms windows
<lollaritshe[m]> its more of a "had too many bad experiences with it"
<lollaritshe[m]> bypassnro doesnt work anymore
<lollaritshe[m]> fucking microsoft
<Jasper[m]> lollaritshe[m]: Did you connect to the internet already?
<jglathe_> to quote Dilbert: "It's people. The problem is always people."
<lollaritshe[m]> turning of the sim worked
<jglathe_> yay
<lollaritshe[m]> maybe i will try to get along with windows for a while

<agl> jhovold: Do I have to consider anything with the latest 6.8.y kernel from steev? Any new drivers/firmware or anything else? I am currently compiling 6.8.y.
juergh_ is now known as juergh
<jhovold> agl: I don't know, but mainline 6.8 (and my wip branch) are working well
<steev> jhovold: 23-37
<jhovold> steev: confirmed with .37? Me and bamse also hit this after Arch updated to .36, but neither of us have noticed it for a month which coincides with when linux-firmware moved to .37
<jhovold> there hasn't really been any ath11k changes in 6.8 so pretty sure it's a fw issue
<steev> jhovold: you're talking about the msdu_done bit in attention is not set ?
<jhovold> no, not that
<steev> oh
<steev> oh
<jhovold> you said you got low throughput (in one direction) once when you booted 6.8
<steev> yeah, i misread what you asked. it seems to occur once i sleep (and i haven't done that yet since my last boot)
<jhovold> can you tell for sure which fw you were using that one time it happened?
<agl> steev: I'am compiling your newest 6.8.y kernel. Can you tell me if there is newer firmware or other things neccessary for it?
<steev> jhovold: well i definitely haven't changed my firmware recently, and it's .37
<steev> and this occured for me last week as my sister's place
aram__ has joined #aarch64-laptops
<jhovold> right, that's the report I had in mind
<jhovold> so you update the fw manually?
aram__ has quit []

<steev> yeah
<steev> and i just checked and its still .37, iirc, we still have .23 in debian
<steev> i did just sleep the laptop for 10 minutes and not seeing the slow speed though when it came back
<jhovold> ok, thanks, yeah no idea what triggers it but I only saw it 2-3 times when doing wifi benchmarks and now not for a month with .37

<agl> steev: When starting my x13s your new 6.8.1 kernel is loaded. The device tree is loaded and then the kernel starts but it cannot mount the root file system. Are any additional kernel parameters necessary than the ones that had to be set so far?
<agl> steev: Kernel 6.7.10 starts normaly.
<steev> what fs do you have? there isn't enough info to know
<altacus> For anyone trying to get widevine working w/Debian and firefox esr. After installing widevine from https://github.com/AsahiLinux/widevine-installer/blob/main/widevine-installer, I followed the directions laid out in this post. https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=8828
<altacus> Certain sites will block unknown user agents, like NetFlix so using an extension to mask the browser user agent is necessary. There is an extension linked here https://github.com/AsahiLinux/widevine-installer/issues/6
<altacus> Does anyone know if it's possible to run linux on other 8cx gen 3 devices? I just found out that the Huawei matebook e go and the robo and kala tablets use the 8cx gen 3.
