<steev> clover[m]: what encryption format is your luks partition using?
<clover[m]> I don't know I guess just the default one? Not sure how to tell
<steev> you should be able to run `dmsetup table crypto` i think
<steev> or cryptsetup table crypto, i guess
<steev> i'd assume the debian config would have those modules enabled, since we can do encrypted filesystem installs too, so not sure what would be missing, i still think it's just something not in your initramfs, just not sure what
<steev> does it dump you into a initramfs shell? or just never appears to unlock?

<aram_> kernel 6.7 boots without devicetree (ACPI?), with devicetree specified in grub it dumps into initramfs shell
<aram_> I've tried the lenovo 5G devicetree (8180x)

<steev> you'll probably need to dump the acpi tables (and please submit them to https://github.com/aarch64-laptops/build

<jhovold> Here's an updated wip branch for the X13s:
<jhovold> Changes include:
<jhovold> - fix displayport runtime pm leaks on hotplug
<jhovold> - fix bluetooth regression in 6.8-rc7 (sic)
<clover[m]> steev: could it have something to do with me using F2FS as my root filesystem?
<_[m]123> had this morning the weirdest bug after sleep, I couldn't cycle through apps with super+tab, just 3 or 4 apps, no start menu nothing
<_[m]123> then had to hard reset, ofc fs corruption - sigh
<_[m]123> but this is userland bug though somehow feels like the weirdness/brokenness is after sleep
<_[m]123> (suspend is not there right)
<_[m]123> this variation was new though, I am going to have to spend some time to change display manager prolly aren't I?
<_[m]123> ah and one note, it didn't start right off, I wake the laptop, again the external screen is primary, so have to turn it on, log in, go to display mgmt, change primary and enable internal screen
<_[m]123> then it was still fckng me, so I disconnected the external screen like yeah, should've done from the start
<_[m]123> then it got fckd
<clover[m]> steev: i guess i am using aes-xts-plain64? https://pastebin.com/LuKDJPXr
<clover[m]> 6.7 aes modules vs 6.8... (full message at <https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/matrix.org/giZgopFxwqXBfoydWopLRKFY>)
<clover[m]> <_[m]123> "https://paste.debian.net/1311100..."; <- Thanks
<clover[m]> I'm running fsck right now. Taking a while but hopefully that helps
<aram_> steev: how do I dump the acpi tables?
ellyq has joined #aarch64-laptops
<steev> aram_: should be able to run acpidump.exe > acpidump and then run acpiextract against it; you'll need to download the windows binaries and run it from a command prompt in windows though (don't recall if it needs administrator privileges though)
<aram_> oh and I was gonna do it in linux with acpidump -b
<aram_> good thing I still have the win11 intact
<steev> not sure if linux will work or not, maybe?
<steev> i think we want it from windows because of the peps
<aram_> still have to find aarch64 acpidump.exe binary, intel only offers x86/64
<steev> should work fine
<aram_> I'll give it a try
<_[m]123> it has emulation?
<_[m]123> steev do you recreate your defconfig every major kernel version?
<clover[m]> steev: any reason why you have the QCOM_SDM845 set to y in this version of the kernel config?
<_[m]123> I booted 6.7.7 and the sound level is higher / better than 6.8 - I have to put 100% for it to be understandable
<_[m]123> here I can put 75% and it still feels louder
<steev> clover[m]: because i use it on my c630 as well
<clover[m]> Ah OK
<_[m]123> but on the other hand bluetooth is fckd lol
<aram_> ACPI dump files
<clover[m]> I'm not sure how to get a initramfs rescue shell going, just dumps me to a blank screen
<_[m]123> also CONFIG_QCOM_QSEECOM is y in laptopdefconfig
<_[m]123> but
<_[m]123> ./arch/arm64/configs/johan_defconfig:CONFIG_QCOM_QSEECOM_UEFISECAPP=y
<steev> ? i have that too
<steev> clover[m]: hm, and you have the list of modules enabled that i gave?
<steev> can you try blacklisting msm and setting video=efifb earlycon=efifb maybe?
<steev> i *think* it's modprobe.blacklist=msm
<steev> might be modprobe_blacklist
<clover[m]> thanks, will have to try later. need to get some work done now
<steev> you're not using slbounce or anything, right?
<steev> fwiw, with the wifi issues on 6.8 (the speed slowdown randomly though seems mostly to come after waking from sleep) i tend to stay in 6.7 myself
<steev> which, i did just push the 6.7.10 stuff because i thought i did over the weekend, but i did not
<_[m]123> CONFIG_QCOM_QSEECOM should be n I think
<steev> no it should not
<steev> bool "Qualcomm SEE UEFI Secure App client driver"
<steev> config QCOM_QSEECOM_UEFISECAPP
<steev> depends on QCOM_QSEECOM

<steev> yes, disabling that will also disable the uefisecapp
<steev> i'm not disabling it for everyone because of your system
<steev> to be clear, johan was asking you to disable it there as a troubleshooting step, but no access to efivars isn't a good thing
<steev> are you on the latest bios and do you have the linux option selected in it?
<_[m]123> so i should enable it back? I thought it was until some bug was fixed with efivars which was now the case
<_[m]123> if that's the case then I misunderstood
<steev> i'm not sure if it is or is not fixed, i haven't run into whatever you're running into
<_[m]123> never mind you re not understanding my not understanding things 😄
<_[m]123> I put it back to y
<_[m]123> I'll just revert to earlier kernel versions instead in the future
<steev> the defconfig doesn't change anything anyway once you've already run it, unless you're making the defconfig first each time
<_[m]123> once you've already run what? I change it and recompile the kernel, no?
<steev> make laptop_defconfig; you don't need to change the defconfig each time, just make menuconfig and change the options
<_[m]123> oh fck so if I don't recompile the .config I'm actually changing nothing 😲
<steev> if you're just changing the defconfig, and then running make <whatever> but not actually running make defconfig.... then yes, you have changed nothing
<_[m]123> nice 😄
<steev> the defconfig is just used to generate the .config
<_[m]123> #awkward 😄
<jglathe_volterra> this is quite sophisticated. You can do things like copy your_defconfig to your_defconfig.config, and do make defconfig; make your_defconfig.config
<clover[m]> pushed 6.7.10 to my arch repo. works beautifully
<steev> i'd definitely like to figure out what's breaking 6.8 for you
<steev> clover[m]: what happens if you use johan's defconfig?
