<SpieringsAE> What temperature does that happen at? I've not seen my asus get above 90 degrees, seems to chill at 88 degrees at full power. tbh I would like to make the fan curve a bit more aggressive, a bit too spicy for my liking

<SpieringsAE> btw whats happening with that qseecom allow list? My asus isn't on that list yet, but I saw something about making it generic for all x1e80100 systems so they don't have to be individually added
* travmurav[m] immediately wonders what's up with that on ufs devices like samsung
<travmurav[m]> I guess efivars are just readonly if you don't have qsee storage backend working
<SpieringsAE> there was someone that was making a patch for ufs
<SpieringsAE> but they are getting tired of revisions
<travmurav[m]> But they will appear writeable, just not save
<travmurav[m]> Oh fun
<travmurav[m]> Do you have a link?
<SpieringsAE> looking rn
<travmurav[m]> Ah no i meant qhee/qsecapp specific stuff for ufs/rpmb based devices
<SpieringsAE> ah yeah no idea
srinik has joined #aarch64-laptops
<SpieringsAE> I don't think it makes sense for me to make a patch to add my asus to the list if that is getting reworked
<travmurav[m]> Yeah I guess it sounds fine and we will just get someone asking why their efivars don't save later when everyone forgets xD
<travmurav[m]> Ah it was already brought up on the list even
<SpieringsAE> yep
<travmurav[m]> Well allegedly someone @ quic is looking into the qhee storage stuff so we will see i guess
<SpieringsAE> guess I'll be patient for now then, set everything I need to with my current kernel that has it enabled for the asus
<travmurav[m]> qsee, i always mix them up, eh...

<wizzard> I'm trying to compile a kernel for Ubuntu with the latest patches for the 14s Gen 6, specifically to test some recent patches that enable external DisplayPort support. Currently, I'm running kernel version 6.11.0-49-qcom-x1e, but I noticed that the latest source is still on 6.11.0-48 (qcom-x1e-next) [link](https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-concept/ubuntu/+source/linux/+git/oracular).
<wizzard> Hi everyone,
<wizzard> Could anyone clarify which branch is used for building the kernal and which I should be using to compile the kernel with the patches from qcom-x1e-next?
<wizzard> Here are the specific patches I'm interested in testing:
<wizzard> Thanks in advance for your help!

<tobhe> wizzard: let me actually push the latest tag
<tobhe> qcom-x1e branch is now in sync again
<tobhe> a few patches in the previous built caused regressions with the T14s oled and were reverted again until we find out how to fix those
<wizzard> Perfect. Thanks.
<wizzard> Any advise how to test the t14s: Add audio related nodes patch?
<wizzard> I am happy to help in debugging any issues.

<tobhe> the dtb changes alone are not enough to make the speakers work. We also need an audioreach topology binary and an alsa ucm config

<wizzard> Sorry for not knowing any better, this is the first time I am trying to compile a kernel myself. Which commands do you use to build the kernel from the qcom-x1e branch.
<wizzard> My build commands are:
<wizzard> I have followed the Ubuntu BuildYourOwnKernel Guide. First I appended a string to the version number in debian.qcom-x1e/changelog. Then applied my patches. I assumed I do not need change anything in menuconfig.
<wizzard> ```
<wizzard> fakeroot debian/rules clean
<wizzard> ```
<wizzard> fakeroot debian/rules binary-headers binary-generic binary-perarch
<wizzard> ```
<wizzard> The error is:
<wizzard> make: *** [debian/rules.d/2-binary-arch.mk:38: /home/liam/linux/debian/stamps/stamp-build-generic] Error 2
<wizzard> ```
<wizzard> These errors are cascading make errors, but they don't show the root cause. So I don't know what I am missing.

<abby> fyi irc doesn't have code blocks or multiline messages, best to use a pastebin if needed
<wizzard> Thanks for the advice.
<tobhe> I think a more up-to-date guide is on discourse, https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/kernel-configuration-in-ubuntu/35857
<tobhe> oh and you need to replace generic with our kernel flavor name, qcom-x1e
<tobhe> so probably: fakeroot ./debian/rules binary-qcom-x1e

<craftyguy> Could someone please remind me how to press sysrq on the x13s? 😅
<abby> don't think that's currently possible, i think it's Fn+S or something
<abby> yeah Fn+S
<abby> doesn't work without the EC/extra keyboard keys that don't have a driver yet
<abby> https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/pubs/tp_13s_gen1/ug/html_en/index.html#t=en%2FUse_the_keyboard_shortcuts.html%23SpecialKeysForE420-FD0FF3311&rhtocid=_4_1_1
<craftyguy> Ah, I haven't seen this page before
<craftyguy> Ugh, welp, force poweroff/reboot it is then
<abby> can you get to a shell and do it in the sysfs sysrq?
<craftyguy> No, the internal display appears to be borked after a suspend/resume
<abby> ssh?
<craftyguy> Like, no backlight, and no access to external display or ssh
<abby> darn
<craftyguy> yeah. I know that suspend/resume while connected to an external display is broken, but every so often is seems to break for me when there is no external display involved
<craftyguy> bummer about sysrq key not working... what's this driver that needs to be made? Anything similar on other platforms?
<abby> a bunch of the fn-layer keys set registers in an i2c device, which i think from konrad's work is the EC
<abby> so something needs to match register changes <-> various events
