<steev> logan2611: i have 6.11 working here - with some extra patches
<steev> config too
<logan2611> very nice, thank you
<logan2611> what all is broken still?
<steev> audio
<steev> not sure what happened to it
<steev> it was working... now it is not
<logan2611> gotta love it
<steev> the gpu is fixed by those ubwc patches (and need a newer(?) mesa)
<steev> i *think* the vast majority of patchces were pulled in to 6.12, i just haven't had any free time to look
<logan2611> I think I actually got GPU to work on 6.12, seems it was just a skill issue on my part
<logan2611> steev: ah
<steev> but that 6.11 tree is what i'm currently running on mine
<logan2611> hmm
<steev> with a ~debian testing distro
<steev> also, fwiw, it seems channel 177 (the latest patch on my branch) isn't available on the flex5g, but it is on the c630 *shrug* )
<logan2611> huh
<logan2611> I don't even think that channel is legal here (US), so w/e I suppose
<steev> it is
<logan2611> hmm

<jenneron[m]> logan2611: sc8180x still broken? the last i know working is at https://gitlab.com/sc8180x-mainline/linux/-/commits/v6.1.x?ref_type=heads
chrisl has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<jenneron[m]> it's 6.1.80, rebasing it on top of 6.1.119 would be a good idea
<jenneron[m]> unless upstream backproted some breakages
<logan2611> I sure hope they didn't, although it wouldn't be the first time
<logan2611> I was thinking of bisecting the UFS issue, although it's a bit late here so I'll probably hold off until tomorrow
<logan2611> seems like support is slowly getting better though

<macc24> Jens Glathe: maybe something's up with clocks? I've seen sound distortion when changing gpu speed on other soc
<JensGlathe[m]> Hmm further experiments have shown it may be the snaps (Thunderbird has Snap). Removed all of them. So far no distortion
<tobhe_> weird

<maz> NV on x1e is alive. not that a lot of people care, but hey...
<maz> M2 still spanks it performance-wise, but that's not totally surprising.
<tobhe> nv like nvidia?
<maz> like Nested Virt.
<tobhe> that makes more sense :D
<travmurav[m]> maz: nice
<maz> 3m30 to install Debian in a nested guest on x1e, 3m00 with M2.
<travmurav[m]> hm so m2 also has nv?
<maz> yes. that's been my dev platform for the past two years.
<travmurav[m]> interesting
<tobhe> only macos didn't for a long time
<travmurav[m]> maz: and what was the "they read it wrong" issue? Or can't say yet?
<maz> I have no confirmation whether that's the correct workaround, but it gets us by.
<travmurav[m]> mhm fun
<travmurav[m]> tbh the way you mentioned it last time "I'm awaiting confirmation" sounded like it's some security issue xD
<maz> no, nothing of the sort, sorry! ;-)
<travmurav[m]> :D
<maz> but on the other side, if *this* is broken, what else?
<travmurav[m]> tbh on one hand I'd think "well I guess this was a startup that implemented those cores from scratch" but on the other hand "ugh wtf I thought arm provides extensive test suites for everything, why else would you pay them..." xD
<konradybcio> SpieringsAE: which device do you have?
<maz> no, ARM doesn't provide much in terms of validation. the ACK basically checks that the features exposed by the core are apparently working.
<maz> but the core DV is really up to the implementers.
<travmurav[m]> eh...
<maz> you can license some very expensive tools to help with the validation, but that's usually very integrated with your emulation environment, and ARM won't help you there.
<maz> in short, you pay ARM for the *right* to build a CPU, and support on the architecture. that's all/
<SpieringsAE> konradubcio: the asus vivobook s15
<SpieringsAE> I still need to actually put the bindings into that dtb but jeah
<SpieringsAE> okay, I did an oopsie, and I'm a bit stuck, I did `git am` to get some patches that my patch depends on to check, so yeah it works now. But now these patches from the git am are in my history
<SpieringsAE> and so they get included in my b4 send, which is not good
<SpieringsAE> I think I should do a checkout of an earlier point in the tree?
<konradybcio> move the b4 cover letter after the patches you picked up
<konradybcio> b4 only picks up commits after that one
leio has quit [Quit: http://quassel-irc.org - Chat comfortably. Anywhere.]
<SpieringsAE> nope that didnt work
<SpieringsAE> well the picked up patches are the last ones
<SpieringsAE> so it would also remove all my commits
<konradybcio> git rebase -i $(git describe --abbrev=0) and move them around
<SpieringsAE> okay that one is cool I think I got it
<SpieringsAE> yep, thanks a lot! I really need to get better at git
<konradybcio> it also hurts to type all these long commands.. oh-my-zsh has a lot of nice built-in aliases, and then there's some here too https://konradybcio.pl/git.txt

<steev> for wifi on the sc8180x you need rmtfs, and tqftpserv, iirc (as well as having the firmware)
