I GOT IT, I FINALLY GOT IT, it took two weeks, and ordering from some sketchy spanish website, but I finally have my 32 gb asus with a sane qwerty keyboard
<SpieringsAE>
well, time to get arch running on it again

Hi, I can not see earlier messages, so I hope this doesn't get asked all the time: I am sitting in front of a new Snapdragon X1 Elite laptop that I do not see directories for in the aarch64-laptops/build repo (the HONOR MagicBook 14). I hope to see Linux support in the future, is there any way I can contribute that doesn't risk bricking the device/wrecking the Windows installation, e.g. providing the output of some command to
<tinko92[m]>
provide hardware info (e.g. I saw many commits about ACPI tables being added for specific devices, but that's outside my area of expertise, and I didn't find any wiki or tutorial for how to obtain those in the README).

Said I would check dmi vendor/product name for firmware path, but its unusable
<SpieringsAE>
vendor is 'ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.'
<SpieringsAE>
product is 'ASUS Vivobook S 15 S5507QA_S5507QAD'
<SpieringsAE>
so that would not make for a very nice firmware path
<SpieringsAE>
so the current ASUSTeK/vivobook-s15 might be fine I think
<SpieringsAE>
though vivobook-s15 might be too general
<SpieringsAE>
tinko[m]: for the history check oftc.irclog.whitequark.org/aarch64-laptops

I'm afraid if extracting the acpi tables is too, much that there is not much to do, you could try booting with an existing dtb and see how far you get
<SpieringsAE>
but it would still be nice to have those tables to see if one is a close fit
<SpieringsAE>
tinko92[m]: whoops read the name wrong
<tinko92[m]>
I'll try to look into how to extract the acpi tables then, I'm not familiar with working close to hardware, I just saw so many devices already, I thought, maybe there was some documented standard procedure/script for it in the project that I was missing.
<SpieringsAE>
there probably are some tools for it, I didn't have to do it as someone else had already done my model
<tinko92[m]>
Well, that actually worked, thanks. I
<tinko92[m]>
* thanks. I'll try to understand the format and build a PR from that.
<tinko92[m]>
* worked, thanks. Was sceptical because I, * I didn't see arm support mentioned. I'll try to understand the format and build a PR from that.

steveej[m]: which kernel and config are you using?
<jhovold>
camss has failed to probe, possibly due to a missing dependency in your config
<jhovold>
which means you're also losing an hour of so of battery time since the interconnects does not reach the sync state
<jhovold>
check what
<jhovold>
/sys/kernel/debug/devices_deferred says

unless those message are indeed from your initramfs and you were simply not fast enough to unlock the disk or something...
<erebion[m]>
freekurtI said I'm using a Pinephone dock, please read the whole sentence before asking me about it TWICE.
<steveej[m]>
FWIW this boot instance the cam is available
<deathmist>
JensGlathe[m]: I was interested in df -h | egrep '^Filesystem|efivars' output to see how much space there is if one was to store the PEP DSDT bits there if eventually decoded, but realistically that's not happening anyway
<steveej[m]>
seems to be a race of sorts. yes sometimes i dont immediately enter the password
<jhovold>
steveej[m]: one more thing to try is unloading and reloading the sensor driver ov5675
<jhovold>
i've got a feeling that v4l is doing something wrong with respect to probe deferrals
<jhovold>
v4l/camss/sensor driver

<macc24> "tinko92: can you send over ec..." <- Sorry, time zone. I'll be more than happy to, though. I just ran Export-WindowsDriver in powershell and ended up with roughly 500 MB in output, I'll try to upload that somewhere in a compressed archive.
