mps / kov / joske: Does audio still work for you? I rebooted twice, everything looks like it should work (alsamixer, pavucontrol) but no sound.
<Glanzmann>
povik: I'm afraid to ask, but do I need these modules? CONFIG_SND_SOC_DMIC=m CONFIG_SND_SOC_ES8328=m CONFIG_SND_SOC_ES8328_I2C=m CONFIG_SND_SOC_ES8328_SPI=m
<David[m]123456789>
@jmr2 Do you have different UUID between 1TR and your startup disk?
<povik>
Glanzmann: you don't

povik: Sound works for me. I think the reason was that I had muted it in macos. But it might also be that it was musted pulseaudio, I try to reprodcue later.
<povik>
> I think the reason was that I had muted it in macos.
<povik>
that wouldn't make sense

marcan: I'm reading this hackernews thread. Incredible...
<as400[m]>
ignorance is a bliss
<marcan>
as400[m]: being knowledgeable about a subject really makes it obvious how much nonsense gets said there...
<as400[m]>
Well, I'd say data integrity is like basics nowadays.
<as400[m]>
You don't need a lot of technical knowledge to understand consequences
<marcan>
yesterday someone said B is a dissonant note. When pressed, they said "in the key of C" (as if that key is vastly more popular). I said B is literally in the C major scale and part of some of the most important chords in that scale. They insisted B and C together are dissonant. Guess they've never heard of CMaj7. I guess all jazz and most popular music is dissonant these days...
<j`ey>
maybe their piano was just out of tune :P
<TheLink>
Perhaps it was a German who meant Bb by saying b 😛
<TheLink>
B is H here
<TheLink>
And Bb is B
<kettenis>
j'ey: a piano is out of tune by definition!

<Tom[m]1234>
hello
<Tom[m]1234>
when is the release date of asahi linux do you reckon?
<kov>
jokes aside, I think it's pretty hard to know how long it'll be before it's deemed good enough for an alpha, but there will be a progress report soon, maybe it will give us an idea, Tom[m]1234
<kov>
there are always weird things appearing out of nowhere that take time, like the NVME stuff that is causing big discussions right now

David[m]123456789: Running the installer from MacOS, I have the same value for Boot UUID, Boot VGID and Default boot VGID, and a different one in the partition list.
<jmr2>
When running from recoveryOS, everything is the same except for Boot UUID, which has a 3rd, distinct value.
<jmr2>
I did email the logs & DT to marcan, but didn't try much past that. For now, I'm keeping the machine mostly untouched, in case he wants more data or that I test a fix.

<David[m]123456789>
jmr2: same for me
<jmr2>
David[m]123456789: how much changes did you make regarding the partitions so far? Or full MacOS reinstalls / "erase all contents & settings"?
<David[m]123456789>
none
<jmr2>
Only one shrunk to make space for Asahi?
<David[m]123456789>
* none apart from alocating space for Linux
<jmr2>
OK. So it might be more related to the multiple admin accounts then. Thanks for the info.
<j`ey>
David[m]123456789: so you did 2 full installs of macOS at some point?
<jmr2>
j`ey: do you mean reinstalls, or side-by-side installs?
<j`ey>
jmr2: not sure, they said they did/had 2 installs, so trying to understand
<jmr2>
OK. I know side-by-side isn't an issue, I had both 11.6 and 12.2 installed and was able to run the installer. Not fully sure regarding full reinstalls, but I probably did that a few times months ago too.
<j`ey>
full reinstall = completely wipe and install?
<j`ey>
because that should be ok too
<jmr2>
That part is fuzzy. I didn't do that recently.
