there certainly used to be a variety of patched versions of freetype to try to replicate the macOS render feel - I remember reading arch linux wiki guides about it

macos font rendering looks pretty terrible on non-apple screens i must admit. it's like it has a thin oil slick applied over the screen. im not sure if thats down to the actual font renderer or how WindowManager treats external displays. its been a problem since at least Mountain Lion though.

marcan's streams would probably be a place to start. its pretty much just like writing kernel drivers for any platform device described by a devicetree, except you also have to reverse engineer the hardware interface by stick poking the target hardware via macos/m1n1

tpw_rules: So I tried your patch and it works, but after installing the m1n1/dtb/u-boot.bin and I said reboot u-boot said something and rebooted twice. The third time when I had my handy recording it worked out of the box. I tried booting again and had no issue. If I see it again, I'll record it.

svcx80: So basically you do the the following: YOu make space, you run the asahi installer, you create one 512 MB ESP partition and a Linux root partition. Than you install u-boot, put linux on the linux partition and a grub on the efi partition.
