Glanzmann: is some configuration needed to get audio working? With my latest built I cannot see a “line out” option under kde
<chadmed>
hello all, ive been working on an Asahi Linux Plymouth theme for the last two days. it very closely emulates Apple's own boot splash screen. i've been testing it with Artix Linux, however I feel like it would be good to have some wider spread testing. https://github.com/chadmed/asahi-plymouth
<chadmed>
the commit history is rough, please dont look at it ;)
<psykose>
add
<psykose>
:)
<chadmed>
?
<psykose>
there is a commit named add, haha
<chadmed>
oh right, yeah it was add .gitignore but github doesnt like dotfiles in commits i guess
<mps>
landscape15[m]: there is no 'line' control
<Glanzmann>
landscape15[m]: What model do you have?
<Glanzmann>
landscape15[m]: So audio only works on the T8103 models from 2020 at the moment.
<Glanzmann>
landscape15[m]: You can check with alsamixer and pavucontrol. On alsamixer I sometimes need to select the second device and increase the volume.

Glanzmann: yeah I have a T8103. I’ll check alsamixer. I don’t know if it is due to the fact I’m running a monolithic kernel for now.
<mps>
landscape15[m]: are you running pulseaudio or using plain alsa
<Glanzmann>
landscape15[m]: For me it works with pulseaudio as well.

mps: I think both, as I installed full kde plasma (with userspace software included)

It doesn’t detect a sound card

<mps>
landscape15[m]: probably your kernel config needs something to be set
<StephanvanSchaik>
but I haven't really checked sound too much yet, other than it shows up in alsamixer.
<mps>
here is my config for latest asahi kernel with Glanzmanns patch for backlight http://ix.io/3QEI
<mps>
everything works fine
<landscape15[m]>
mps: ok thanks. I will try that. Also Wi-Fi should work oob right? I’m using tethered boot with PCIe enabled in m1n1
<j`ey>
yes wifi works ootb + firmware
<StephanvanSchaik>
Isn't there the 4K vs. 16K page size issue still?
<StephanvanSchaik>
I had to apply sven's 4K IOMMU patch before WiFi + USB A + ethernet started working for me.
<mps>
landscape15[m]: StephanvanSchaik: yes, it is configured with 4K page size, but this is easy to change if you want 16K
<mps>
StephanvanSchaik: for usb ethernet and usb dongles (and all dongles) works fine with 4K or 16K for more than 3 months
<StephanvanSchaik>
mps: I know, I am just mentioning it in case you run into the actual ethernet + USB A + WiFi is not working.
<StephanvanSchaik>
But I am using a Mac Mini.
<StephanvanSchaik>
I was using a USB C dongle with USB ports and an ethernet adapter before I figured out that I needed either 16K pages or the IOMMU patch.
<mps>
StephanvanSchaik: ah, I don't know what doesn't work on mini, but don't see any reason why usb dongles wouldn't work
<landscape15[m]>
j`ey: thanks. Do I need to put it in /lib/firmware? So that I have /lib/firmware/brcmfmac
