Is sleep/suspend working? If so, how do you use it?

is there an img i can dd to a usbdrive to boot asahi from usb? something weird happened...after an update last week none of my initrd's are able to mount my rootfs to /new_root. rootfs is luks-encrypted btrfs and none of my initrds seem to even have cryptsetup installed. even old initrd's that were generaed over a couple weeks ago, which is perplexing
<mps>
and it is alpine linux so be prepared for surprises if you didn't used alpine earlier

<derzahl>
i tried building a fedora boot img but it didnt work. so anything that boots is better than what i got now.

derzahl: this one I made boots but it is minimal by default. other packages could be installed if you install firmware for wifi after first boot and run iwd, or using ethernet adapter
<derzahl>
hm, not getting an option to boot your image either. are there any tricks or gotcha like it wont boot from flash disks over Xgb in size?
<derzahl>
i should be able to see the option to boot from the external disk when starting my macbook and holding the power button for additional 'startup options' right
<derzahl>
?
<jannau>
no, you need to interrupt u-boot and then type `run usb_boot`
<mps>
derzahl: I wrote short info on the above url, break u-boot and then invoke 'run usb_boot' from cli
<mps>
also you should see if the usb device is detected by u-boot
<jannau>
macos can't boot from random usb storage and certainly not Linux on random usb storage
<derzahl>
oh sorry, missed that
<derzahl>
thansk
<mps>
jannau: right but I thougt derzahl have already m1n1+u-boot on machine
<jannau>
that was the explonation why it is not shown in apples boot selection (after holding power button for startup options)
<mps>
ah, ok then

got it! i guess the m1 didnt like the first flash drive i used
<mps>
yes, it is picky somewhat. also I have flash from which it will not boot and also one usb ssd which even crashes u-boot

back in business! thanks again @mps
<derzahl>
do you currently run alpine on a macbook?
<mps>
derzahl: you are welcome
<mps>
yes, I run alpine on everything
<mps>
derzahl: uhm, I again have to praise myself but alpine was first distro used on m1 as daily driver by me and one another guy
<mps>
ok, pipcet made debian running earlier but that was other kernel and not asahi

mps: awesome. i like alpine and have often wondered how it would be as a desktop os ( Ive mostly just used it in docker containers and I have a alpine VM on my TrueNAS that I use for linux stuff)
<derzahl>
I have come around alot on systemd(kinda have to now due to my employment) and have even come to appreciate its features on the desktop - but I still dislike the near absolute dominance it has in linux today
<derzahl>
so its refreshing that there are still some holdouts. alpine must be a top contender for market share when it comes to non-systemd distros
<derzahl>
?
<derzahl>
i wonder if i can get it to run on my aarch64 lenovo c630
