<lucenera> Wanting to use OpenWrt as a regular operating system, can I build it without squashfs and ext4? I use a Raspberry Pi4 8GB with a 1TB disk. Will Sysupgrade still erase everything, even if I do it between two versions I build?
<stintel> sysupgrade will erase partition 1 and 2, you can add a 3rd partition manually and mount that. the risk here is that when you increase TARGET_KERNEL_PARTSIZE and/or TARGET_ROOTFS_PARTSIZE, sysupgrade will rewrite the partition table and overwrite the start of your manual partition
<stintel> os it's doable, but you need to keep that in mind

<blocktrron> stintel: you were the onw fith the watchguard firebox, right?
<blocktrron> Do you have any idea about power consumption?
<dwfreed> there's a few of us
<stintel> blocktrron: M300 idles around 20W iirc
<blocktrron> dwfreed: what is the NAT performance of the device, is it suitable for 1 Gbit/s?
<stintel> it does 1GbE with cake :)
<blocktrron> Good to know
<blocktrron> I will see it as my backup then, hopefully the mt7986 can do 1 Gbit/s.
<dwfreed> getting 22w idle on mine, though I also don't use it for anything at the moment
<dwfreed> probably peak 30-40w max if the fans are spun all the way up
