hi2all. Maybe anyone can help me )
<PaulFertser>
lmahmutov: for that you need to actually ask your question and then to stay on the channel for long enough.
<lmahmutov>
i cannot understand how to update regulatory db for ipq807x, it is build to board-2.bin, i try to repack it but not works (
<lmahmutov>
BDF is very old and regdb information not actual
<Tapper>
lmahmutov flash latest OpenWrt then your DB file will be the rite one.
<lmahmutov>
Tapper ipq807x don't use system regdb , it is use data from BDF
lmahmutov has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<Tapper>
lmahmutov So flash latest master and have dun. When the file needs updating then make a PR on github.
<Tapper>
OK it's like that is it? haha

is setting "BLOCKSIZE := 4k" for the specific board in openwrt/target/linux/ath79/image$ nano tiny-tp-link.mk sufficient or will i also have to adjust "CONFIG_MTD_SPI_NOR_USE_4K_SECTORS=y" in openwrt/target/linux/ath79/tiny/config-default?
<shibboleth>
i meant 64k, not 4k ofc
<arnd>
dangole: do you have an opinion on the oxnas deprecation? I think we've settled on removing SMP support for ARMv6 already, but the question remains whether we would keep ox810 and ox820 in the kernel as uniprocessor for linux-6.6.y-LTS (openwrt-25.x) or drop it completely and leave 6.1.y as the last LTS for it
shibboleth has quit [Quit: shibboleth]
minimal has joined #openwrt-devel
<dangole>
ox810 imho doesn't make much sense. there is no SATA driver for that and the SoC is mainly used for NAS devices...
<dangole>
ox820 is quite fully supported as of today, USB, both SATA ports, GPIO, ... to me it's sad to see it go, because i think we got a bunch of users with those devices, also because OpenWrt is now the only up-to-date firmware supported for PogoPlug v3, Shuttle KD20 and some Medion low-cost NAS boxes
goliath has joined #openwrt-devel
<dangole>
but surely, till 2025 things will look different again and we can safely assume that most of these devices will have been retired by then
<dangole>
in terms of stats i just checked, the amount of downloads on our download site as well as the sysupgrade server is negligible/close to zero...
<dangole>
in the forums there are still ongoing debates, esp. regarding Shuttle KD20 which is a quite nice and cheap NAS box, well made in terms of hardware (which is why most of them are still alife and in use)
<dangole>
anyway, without SMP it doesn't make much sense to keep ox820 support in the kernel imho

can openwrt/target/linux/ath79/tiny/config-default CONFIG_MTD_SPI_NOR_USE_4K_SECTORS be overridden per-board?
<stintel>
so the vivo x90 pro with mtk 9200 is available here, last day with 100EUR discount
<stintel>
tempting
<stintel>
but the screen and fingerprint reader are "old tech"
<hauke>
shibboleth: no, the kernel configurations are for the complete subtarget not per board
<nick[m]12>
I want to add a default rule blocking all traffic and afterwards adding some exceptions with a luci lua app. AFAIK the ordering in the firewall file is important and so the default rule should be at the end of the firewall file? Is there a way to set some position of the rule? My current status is failing because it always sets it at the end: https://github.com/PolynomialDivision/luci/commit/9688d9764af821ee7168974734c0708d873fa3c3 (cc
<nick[m]12>
jow )
<shibboleth>
f00b4r0, ?
<f00b4r0>
shibboleth: yes
<f00b4r0>
shibboleth: makefile BLOCKSIZE must match EB size on device. I think we discussed this earlier or was it with someone else?
<shibboleth>
so, https://paste.debian.net/hidden/164c11c4/ + +CONFIG_MTD_SPI_NOR_USE_4K_SECTORS=n, CONFIG_MTD_SPI_NOR_USE_VARIABLE_ERASE=y should work this this device as well?
<shibboleth>
because (and correct me if i'm wrong), default BLOCKSIZE for -tiny is 4k?
<f00b4r0>
i don't know what device that is nor what you want to do
<f00b4r0>
the matter on ath79-tiny is that devices should all use 4K, unless it's not supported by the underlying flash.
<f00b4r0>
in which case USE_4K_SECTORS will not do anything to help
<shibboleth>
this is actually an 8mb device but was moved to -tiny due to a vestigial 1.5m oem part
<shibboleth>
so... i was hoping to work around the issue by specifying blocksize = 64k in the device makefile and disable CONFIG_MTD_SPI_NOR_USE_4K_SECTORS. should work?
<f00b4r0>
no, because the latter affects the entire target, i.e. all tiny devices.
<shibboleth>
yes
<shibboleth>
but for me in particular, when rolling my own images
<shibboleth>
rather, building my own images
<shibboleth>
i'm not building for any other -tiny device. so this we're agreed this should work, right?
<f00b4r0>
it should, yes, assuming you have enough free space left
<shibboleth>
goody. fingers crossed
<f00b4r0>
otherwise the result will be identical: config lost.
<shibboleth>
any point to adding CONFIG_MTD_SPI_NOR_USE_VARIABLE_ERASE=y in this case?
<f00b4r0>
no

nick[m]12: looking at that macfilter pr now, can you elaborate onthe purpose? It appears to be essentially a simplified view to create a catch-all forward rule with a couple of mac addresses
<jow>
nick[m]12: the same can be done in the existing ui already, as part of the generic traffic rule config
<jow>
nick[m]12: furthermore the view logic does not use a dedicated identifier or other filter criteria, so it will display any rule that happens to be family:any, src:*, dest:wan, even ones defined elsewhere
<jow>
not sure if this is intended
<jow>
and finally it will not guarantee rule order as you already figured out, so it might generate completely ineffective rules
<jow>
you might want to consider targeting fw4, which allows you to place custom includes at various spots in the ruleset
<jow>
then use a proper nftables set and a dedicated separate uci config for the mac list management
<nick[m]12>
jow: I wanted something fast and easy to understand. I know the filter logic and so on is not good. It also should be no generic solution until now. I also found a different solution that does not require any reordering. however, after loading more than 372 mac addresses into this, it's failing to render the appropriate config :/

<jow>
nick[m]12: however, afair rules with src '*' / dest 'wan' end up in another chain than specific zone bound rules
<jow>
nick[m]12: but wildcard ones are processed before zone specific rules, so it should be fine in your case

jow: o.value(hint[0], hint[1]); for the mac hints does not work for me. it only shows me the hostname and not the mac itself ?
