From work I've poked some exactly 97 pieces of Aruba AP's :D
<olmari>
I mean.. they work, and they work well, open source is not that key word there, but also not my decision
<olmari>
But yeah, the same old discussion that is probably vest to avoid :P

According to the internet searching, it seems the whatever issue is in WDR4900 bootloader is inherently there for not to overcome, so some older openwrt is likely the only thing I can do with this device
<olmari>
...for that I do wonder why does buildroot build the image jsut fine
<olmari>
Would love the "latest" hostapd functions tho... 11r, v, k, and the ef there is :D

Does anyone on here own a Zbtlink ZBT-WE1326 (or Wiflyer WF3526-P) and could help me test my patch? This migrates the wifi path of the existing radio to the new one used with Kernel 5.15
<shibboleth>
doesn't throw the same errors, but still amnesiac

aparcar did you by chance checked the ci pr? downloading the external toolchain takes 1-3 min currently so i can see a good improvement by using container with toolchain in them

Sounds good. I havent have the time, sorry
<shibboleth>
so, i get that the device was moved to -tiny since otherwise very little space would be left (about 120k), but seeing as this instantly makes the device "less than useful", "wtf" seems in order :)
<stintel>
irclogs/2013/01/Freenode/#openwrt.log.xz:23|22:52:10< stintel> or probably the best advice: stop using ancient hardware and upgrade to something with at least 8MB flash
<stintel>
this was 10 years ago :)

it is 8mb
<shibboleth>
but as it stands we have to keep a redundant oem part to be able to revert to stock
<stintel>
yes, but this was 10 years ago :)
<stintel>
the best advice I can give now is: get something with 16MB flash
<stintel>
I'm using EAP615-Wall, 16MB flash, and it's almost not enough
<stintel>
for a dump-AP build
<shibboleth>
right. well, this device is somewhat special with re to capabilities. in any case, my custom build had about 300K left before the device was moved to tiny, can i somehow simply build for generic instead to mitigate the issue?
<stintel>
probably
<shibboleth>
simply change it in make menuconfig?
<stintel>
but I would have to research how
<stintel>
and as 1/ I would not use 8MB devices, 2/ am not getting paid for my time, I'm not going to do that
<shibboleth>
scheisse :P
<stintel>
sorry, just being honest
<stintel>
I work on what I use, or what pays my bills

np. so, stab in the dark: since i'm rolling my own images anyway, would adjusting blocksize 4->64 in the makefile do me any good?
<shibboleth>
nvm, i'll just revert the move-to-tiny patch for now. good night, try catching some shut-eye this time
