gch981213: regarding your siflower PR - is it the target of the gl.iNet Opla SF1200 device? Is it the same siflower?

nbd: i'm now running mt76.git main on 7 devices that have previously all crashed in varying frequency. do you want more logs for the WM crash? it always seems to be some client leaving, then 20s later the message timeouts. or only collect logs for new behaviors?
<schmars[m]>
aaand i noticed i only enabled debugging for phy0, not phy1
<schmars[m]>
(no crashes yet on latest mt76.git main)

can you usually disable individual antennas, and for example turn 3x3 into 2x2? there's this device with 2x RP-SMA and one internal intenna...
<stintel>
# iw | grep antenna
<stintel>
phy <phyname> set antenna <bitmap> | all | <tx bitmap> <rx bitmap>
<stintel>
also this might give some hints: # iw list | grep -i antenna
<schmars[m]>
so 0x3 seems to be antenna 1 plus antenna 2
<schmars[m]>
i will check with the three-antenna device when i have it
<schmars[m]>
was more wondering if 3x3 complicates the situation somehow, but this is useful! thanks!
<stintel>

<gospod>
can IPV6 not be disabled in latest openwrt v23 menuconfig?
<gospod>
only possible when manually editing .config?
<gospod>
im doing a tiny 4MB target and I need to maximize debloating :P
<lemmi>
i wish there was an option to disable v4.
<gospod>
also alot of kmod-crypto stuff that is auto selected and cant be disabled. Possibly because of WPA3? But not all should be absolutely needed for WPA3 or am I wrong?
<gospod>
haha :P
<stintel>
disabling IPv6 caused too much breakage and is not supported for a while
<stintel>
as for kmod-crypto, check what depends on it in menuconfig help
<gospod>
probably mac80211
<gospod>
it cant be unselected
<gospod>
I cant remove anything anymore, atm Im removing stuff from busybox, since all I need it vi
<gospod>
is* vi
<gospod>
(dumbest of the dumb AP)
<gospod>
probably removing too much from busybox will break some builtin script right?
<stintel>
quite possibly
sorinello has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<gospod>
if fwtool cant be unselected in menuconfig, because of base-files, and I know I dont need to flash anything on device, can I safely remove it manually in .config?
<schmars[m]>
i think so. just don't run make defconfig again after removing it, because it would try to "fix" it
<gospod>
understood. I got alot of stuff to remove now !
<schmars[m]>
i have no idea if anything depends on fwtool, just saying that i've worked around the dependency model in this way too
<gospod>
I can leave with stuff crashing, as long as hostapd is still running and possibly luci im fine
<gospod>
live*
<schmars[m]>
:-)
<gospod>
I just want luci with ssl, and its too big. without ssl should be useless
<gospod>
though its a seperate vlan only for mgmt......... im just paranoid without ssl
<stintel>
lol luci with ssl on 4MB
<stintel>
just throw that device in the bin already
<gospod>
i know I should but i had it on v21
<gospod>
:P
<schmars[m]>
oh 4 MB, valiant effort
<stintel>
I can't even fit my dumbAP images on 8MB devices
<gospod>
what are you running that you cant it on 8MB ?
<gospod>
i removed everything and its fine. only luci-ssl missing
<schmars[m]>
our fleet of nanostations here will probably even see openwrt 25.xx :)
<stintel>
snmpd, lldpd
<gospod>
then mine is properly called retardest of the retardest AP
<gospod>
im already running 3x redmi ax6000, but this 4MB (wr841n v11) will in reality just be a mediaconverter for one wifi camera that is really in a dead zone
<gospod>
I should buy something instead of wasting time on this 4MB
<schmars[m]>
i remember that you can solder bigger flash and ram chips on the wr841
<gospod>
maybe god will reserve me a fine chair at welcome dinner, because of my eco-fixing obsolote router :D
<gospod>
in reality I dont even need luci and I would be long done
<gospod>
its just nice to see at a glance if theres anyone connected, far down the line
<gospod>
probably that snmp or something like that would be feasible for that
<stintel>
except that snmp is probably size-heavier than luci
<gospod>
oh
<gospod>
please work luci
<gospod>
:D
<stintel>
there's uhttpd-mod-ubus
<stintel>
you could query ubus remotely via it, iirc
<gospod>
just flashed it with that manually stripped busybox stuff build, and something is broken when logging in into luci. =)
<slh>
gospod: dap-x1860, covr-x1860, wsm20, ~15 bucks for mt7621a+mt7915DBDC
<gospod>
from another luci you mean?
<stintel>
unfortunately it's jsonrpc based which is a horribly pita to work with
<gospod>
understood, thanks slh !
<stintel>
from anything that speaks jsonrpc
<slh>
and 128 MB flash/ 256 MB RAM
<gospod>
slh: i had my eyes on xiaomi 4a gigabit or something, which is double that. thanks for suggestions !
<slh>
if you want xiaomi, the ax3000t often sells for under 30 EUR delivered (customs and taxes included); 27 EUR was the cheapest I've seen so far
<slh>
for a filogic 820 device
<gospod>
im not after xiaomi, im after that mediatek which you already suggested for far less
<gospod>
:P
<gospod>
filogic 820 for 30€ ?
<gospod>
wtf
<gospod>
thank god I didnt buy anything :D
<slh>
the 'normal' price is around 40 EUR, but during sales you will often see it for ~30 EUR
<gospod>
slh: couldnt find those for 15€ you mentioned. you ment used? anyway, dlink.com got a cloudflare gateway time out and thats probably a sign from god to continue my recycling :D
<gospod>
in all honesty we all know im doing a good job, its only because of capitalism that anyones time is not worth the effort
<mirko>
what's the background about "Device"-definitions in (sub)targets: 1) why are they shown and selectable as profiles and 2) why are they being all built unconditionally, even if I select only one specific "Device"-profile?
