nbd: it works :) I'll prep a test image for flashing. Thanks again!

ha, spoke too soon

openwrt-imagebuilder-23.05-SNAPSHOT-ramips-mt7621 yay
<f00b4r0>
and it doesn't work. Again it wants dependency on a different kernel than the one that was built
<f00b4r0>
I don't understand what's going on
<f00b4r0>
kmod-mt7915-firmware also depends on wifi-scripts which it can't find
<f00b4r0>
ok so the kmod dependency is apparently opkg trying to resolve the kernel from the remote repository (the versions matches what is currently on d.o.o) *even though* I'm locally providing all kmods and kernel packages and I see the image builder using the local packages ("Downloading: file:packages/...")
<f00b4r0>
and wifi-scripts conflicts with netifd/base-files in 23.05
<f00b4r0>
nbd: that's never going to work, is it?

Nope, wifi-scripts is way different in master
<robimarko>
A lot of stuff was moved to ucode
<nbd>
f00b4r0: oh, right. i forgot about that. fixable though

schmars[m]: but then you can't load remote packages?

has a build failure on xdptools again, must remember to disable it *always*
<f00b4r0>
have to wonder if xdptools ever builds outside of buildbot (which have access to a copy of the source tarball)

yep, gotta include everything you might need into the imagebuilder. i was building custom firmware for a project anyway so not a big deal for me
<schmars[m]>
unless what you need doesn't end up depending on kmods, then it should be fine i guess. but i needed a few kmods so i ran into the same checksum thing as you
<f00b4r0>
i don't understand why the checksumming fails tbh. I'm not touching the built kernel and I'm building from buildbot .config, so *theoretically* I should end up with matching checksums
<schmars[m]>
my thing is on openwrt-21.02 btw, i didn't even try newer branches yet. needed a kernel config option for VM stuff for automated testing of old firmware that'll see upgrades soon
lucenera has joined #openwrt-devel
<schmars[m]>
i first thought the kernel mismatch was because downloads.openwrt.org/releases/21.02-SNAPSHOT isn't up-to-date with the git branch, but the mismatch persisted
