steev, robclark: yes, `fw_devlink=off` helped! 5 boots in a row do not see the issue.

fwiw, sboyd had a series, "component: Make into an aggregate bus", which I think was meant to help with fw_devlink vs component fw (which is the issue here).. but I haven't had a chance to try it
