ChanServ changed the topic of #aarch64-laptops to: Linux support for AArch64 Laptops (Asus NovaGo TP370QL - HP Envy x2 - Lenovo Mixx 630 - Lenovo Yoga C630)
<clover[m]> What are you up to steev?
<steev> 5'8
<clover[m]> 😆
<clover[m]> Lol
<steev> but for real, now that -next isn't totally borked thanks to brian's patch, i'm trying to test -next, but hitting the nvme issue
<steev> in 6.0 and 6.1, we hit it occasionally, but in -next, it's every boot

<mani_s> steev, i do get the timeout but not the null ptr dereference
<mani_s> in my branch i have all the patches of johan
<steev> i'm trying to boot from the nvme, maybe?
<steev> hm, i thought i do too
<mani_s> shouldn't matter.
<steev> this is against -next though so maybe i'm missing something
<mani_s> steev, or johan's patch broke something ;)
<mani_s> patch(es)
<steev> i guess i can look through :D
<mani_s> just kidding... but this issue is there previously also. since it is getting triggered all the time, some timing could've changed
<mani_s> steev, sure
<steev> which tree
<steev> gh or linaro
<steev> oh
<mani_s> this is not the latest one btw but enough for me to trigger the crash
<steev> yeah
<mani_s> steev, the timeout happens only with laptop_defconfig though
<steev> not the defconfig?
<mani_s> with johan_defconfig it works most of the time as earlier
<mani_s> you can copy laptop_defconfig from my tree and use it here
<steev> ah, i don't think i have his latest on my next
<mani_s> maybe i should just try defconfig and see what happens (after enabling the missing drivers)
<mani_s> could be that config symbols in laptop_defconfig were changed in 6.1-rc

<steev> alright, lets see how badly i screwed up this patching :D

<steev> gonna try my "it used to work" config first
<steev> heh, forgot brian's patch
<steev> ah, yeah, same thing
<steev> except this time i got
<steev> nvme nvme0: I/O 12 QID 0 timeout, disable controller
<steev> whatever that means
<steev> ah, thermal zones are correct in -next
<steev> okay, so it's definitely something in our config :(
<steev> so can confirm, next with johan's config works, ours does
<steev> not
<steev> ugh, i had a thing typed up but i hit ctrl+w to go back a word and ended up closing the tab, because google thinks ctrl+w is a wonderful hotkey to make close tab
<steev> NVME_CORE, BLK_DEV_NVME and PCIE_QCOM are =y on ours, and =m on his
<steev> i'll try swapping those tomorrow and see if it helps at all, but now im to bed

<Leandro[m]> how much more id love to buy the galaxy book go if it was a 2in1 thing
<HdkR> I loved the design of the Surface Book, 2-in-1 but with a hard hinge. Even if the PCIe connection across that connection was a bit flakey
<HdkR> Also the Huuuuge battery with the keyboard attached. Great battery life even on a hungry x86 CPU, was great
<HdkR> I'm jealous of an 87Wh battery, would be fun to have on an ARM device so it lasts a week
<qzed> Still using my SB2, unfortunately the front cam broke recently :/
<HdkR> What a shame, the webcam on the laptop was quite good compared to even today's latest
<qzed> I might try to fix it if I can get some spare parts... I have no idea what I'd buy to replace that right now
<qzed> it has decent battery life, touch + pen for note taking (although I have my SPX for that now), and after some initial work also decent linux support
<HdkR> I'm guessing the camera subsystem on latest QCom devices is still having issues? Could resolve that :P
<qzed> I'd really love some ARM device with good battery life and camera support on linux... wouldn't even need to be a 2in1
<qzed> hopefully the x13 will drive support there
<HdkR> Hopefully!
<qzed> on one hand I'd love to tinker but on the other hand I usually don't have that much time and it's probably better if I can get something decently stable
<qzed> so here's me hoping I can fix that camera...
<qzed> and maybe in a year there are more options

<HdkR> Interesting that there wasn't a new 8cx announced yesterday, just a hint that it'll be shipping to customers early next year
<HdkR> So probably stuck on 8cxG3 for a while longer

<amstan> i am so confused!
<amstan> hey, why am i a mod all the sudden? did oftc fix their user accounts?
<HdkR> ah, TIL
<amstan> HdkR: do i look like an op from the irc side?
<steev> no
<amstan> qzed: i do look like a mod from matrix though, right?
<amstan> this is so weird!
<steev> that's not to say you aren't one, just that you aren't appearing as one
<qzed> amstan: yeah, matrix shows you as mod
<amstan> i'll just stop asking questions about broken software, lol
