<steev> hm, i do have the hack to disable sync_state in rpmhpd, could that be causing the imbalance?

<steev> time to find out, since it's a simple revert
<steev> good news, does not seem like we still need that hack :D at least, it hasn't changed anything for the worse
<steev> suppose the other thing is, the a690 firmware could be "wrong", even if it's just supposed to kick it or whatever

<bamse> steev: no, the sync_state hack makes it such that before actually sending the update to the hardware we just override the value with a better one...but linux doesn't know about that
<bamse> steev: you wouldn't get the -13 if the firmware is wrong...you would get a problem loading the firmware, or possibly talking to the gmu
<steev> ah

<steev> working with this wifi network really makes me want to chuck the thinkpad out the window (even though i know it's not the thinkpad's fault)
<gwolf> Oh, yay! \o/
<gwolf> Got a very promising notification to my Debian mailbox -- alsa-ucm-conf now (as of 1.2.8-1) adds support for the Lenovo C630 laptop (closes: #1017424)
<gwolf> ...now I should check whether it works with the kernel I'm using, of course :-|
<steev> si, it was added after 1.2.7.2 iirc
<steev> it... might or might not

<Caterpillar> steev: what wifi problem are you experiencing?
<steev> Caterpillar: 5G connections suck ass
<steev> 5GHz
<Caterpillar> steev: mmh what happens?
<steev> well, on this particular network, it just doesn't connect, it times out after a bit, then retries, takes about 5-10 goes
<steev> it's an at&t network, and i hope that doesn't foreshadow my switch to them at home
<steev> i do get
<steev> AP has invalid WMM params (AIFSN=1 for ACI2, will use 2, and (AIFSN=1 for ACI3), will use 2
<Caterpillar> at&t? So a 5G network, not 802.11 5GHz, right?
<steev> no, it's 5GHz, not 5G, just AT&T is the ISP
<steev> my thinkpad doesn't have wwan in it
<steev> debating it as a christmas present to myself

<steev> gwolf: actually, if you could test that audio works for you, that would be amazing, because here i just get pops, but the dmesg output looks like what it normally looks like when its working (and it's at home on the charger at the moment)
<steev> i was letting it run on battery to "show it off"
<steev> i wish we could get that kinda battery life out of the thinkpad *sigh*

<steev> srinik: with 6.0.10, i'm seeing http://sprunge.us/PAbgCl on the c630, this is using alsa-ucm-conf 1.2.8 which finally has the c630 bits in it; but all i'm getting out of the speakers is popping; my 6.0 does include some patches from krzk which touch slimbus, so maybe those are causing issues? i've not actually tested reverting them just yet
<steev> for reference, the kernel i'm running on my c630 is https://github.com/steev/linux/commits/linux-6.0.y
<steev> backed out all the audio/fastrpc/slimbus and still same, just pops

<gwolf> steev: will check soon! I am running wirh
<gwolf> Grrr phone kbd
<steev> no worries
<steev> would be nice to get audio back though :)
<steev> i think at one point next had working audio, or maybe it was tovalds, but i haven't tested either on the c630 recently
<gwolf> With the kernel patch you told me so i'd have video out, whixh Is quite important for me
<gwolf> Have you merged It into your branch?
<steev> i don't recall which one it is, but, possibly :D
