ChanServ changed the topic of #aarch64-laptops to: Linux support for AArch64 Laptops (Asus NovaGo TP370QL - HP Envy x2 - Lenovo Mixx 630 - Lenovo Yoga C630)
<cenunix[m]> <martiert> "yeah, that worked. NixOS..." <- hey sorry i havent been checking back here so often, im no nix expert but heres the repo https://github.com/cenunix/x13s-nixos.git
<steev> cenunix[m]: you shouldn't need srinik's fork of alsa-ucm-conf, x13s support is in 1.2.9
<cenunix[m]> gotchya, yeah I have some cleanup to do, also martiert, I have a separate repo for my 'personal' configuration with flakes and home-manager the repo is called nicks. Because my desktop is not an ARM machine ofc, if you'd like to look at that feel free as well. Im porting over some of the services I built in nix over to that x13s repo right now (pd-mapper qrtr bluetooth). my pd-mapper workaround is still VERY hacky though, and needs
<cenunix[m]> to be worked on so i'm gonna have to look at that again.
<cenunix[m]> nixpkgs has alsa-ucm-conf 1.2.9 i believe so thats even less stuff that needs to be maintained
<cenunix[m]> also, I haven't got this setup but id love to get some of these kernels on cachix, so not everyone has to sit there compiling a new kernel. Apparently its not terribly complicated
<clover[m]> steev: do we have j h o v o l d s fixes pushed yet?
<steev> clover[m]: I don’t think so… I was going to but I’m half tempted to push srini’s patch that he provided to test, just to have headphones that don’t blow ear drums out, at least temporarily while it’s situated…
<clover[m]> ok, im still in guate but i had a moment to do linux things so jw
<steev> i think i will tag it as a hack and temporary
<steev> pushed

<cenunix[m]> used an overlay on nixos to leave all the firmware uncompressed, pd-mapper works now just by changing the firmware path, less hacky at least. and more reproducible on other machines

<cenunix[m]> Are there arch mirrors out there?

<jhovold> broonie, srinik: just sent a series fixing the audio probe race I've been hitting with the X13s:
<srinik> jhovold: thanks..
<konradybcio> "As expected, the Qualcomm [...] drivers are broken" spot on :P
<broonie> jhovold: Is there any actual dependency on the soundwire fixes in the ASoC bits? Soundwire review tends to be quite slow.
<jhovold> broonie: not really, merging it separately will not make things worse than they are today, but audio on the X13s will still be broken if we hit a probe deferral as the codec will fail to reprobe
<jhovold> i had a version where i implemented a driver specific synchronisation to avoid the dependency, i can revive that if for some reason the soundwire fix becomes stalled

<danielt> Is anyone else seeing problems with https://github.com/jhovold/linux/tree/wip/sc8280xp-v6.4.1 ? The kernel proper seems works OK but my X13s just blackscreens and reboots if update the DT to the one that comes with the 6.4.1 code from jhovold .
<broonie> jhovold OK, I'll probably take the ASoC bits at rc1 rather than leaving them hanging around.
<danielt> I can diff the good/bad DT and try and reduce the difference to minimal... but just want to see if others have same problem.
<jhovold> broonie: thanks, that would be great
<jhovold> danielt: what kernel is your current dt from?
<danielt> jhovold: The working one? I tried v6.4.0-rc7 and v6.4.0 (both your tree, no extra patches but I am running a distro-like kernel config)
<jhovold> there may be some dt changes in 6.4.1 since 6.4.0 due to the dwc3 mp patches, but haven't noticed any issues myself
<danielt> jhovold: Ok... I'll try to narrow it down.

<danielt> jhovold: Turns out I should have narrowed it down before bothering anyone (I'd ended up booting without any DT in the default case... my fault for not checking)
<jhovold> danielt: heh, good to hear you got it sorted
<jhovold> broonie: is it possible to get on the alsa-devel whitelist without actually subscribing somehow?
<jhovold> to avoid the "awaits moderator approval" mails
<broonie> mailman should support that.
<broonie> I don't admin the list though.
<jhovold> do you know who i should ask?
<broonie> no
<broonie> I assume -owner should go somewhere if it's mailman.
<jhovold> ok, thanks. I'll try that. Was linked to here:
