<harvestz[m]> How's 6.5 going so far for the x13s?
<steev> once you get all the userland stuff in place, seems fine so far
<clover[m]> Agl7 wasn't able to get their sound working :(
<clover[m]> Which is weird cause it should just be a pacman -Syu
<agl7-x13s-eos> clover[m]: Whenn I give the command "inxi -Fxxxz" the following output ist at Audio:

<agl7> clover[m]: Hmmm ... now the x13s does not start. There is a short mesage of the kernel at kernel start and then the screen is blank. From an another computer with ping there a no answers.
<agl7> s/a/are/
<agl7> clover[m]: It is the same behavior as when trying to install EndeavourOS to a USB stick.
<agl7> clover[m]: It seems that I have to reinstall EndeavourOS.
<clover[m]> What the hell?

<agl7-x13s-eos> clover[m]: I have made a file system check from Debian on the EndeavourOS partition. There are FS-Errors and 3 files are in lost+foun. Now I can start EndeavourOS again.
<clover[m]> Sorry you had issues. Maybe your audio will work on a fresh install
<agl7-x13s-eos> It's a test machine, no problem
<agl7-x13s-eos> I will install it new tomorrow ... good night

<Jasper[m]1> I laughed regardless
<_`[m]> same
<_`[m]> clover: you added that cork bottom left of the laptop backside image
<_`[m]> someone happens to have a company that could resell mine one of those 2tb disks?
<Jasper[m]1> _`[m]: frame.work if you live in an area they sell them at
<_`[m]> <Jasper[m]1> "frame.work if you live in an..." <- I don't
<exeat> The second heat pipe will be there if you have the WWAN model
<agl7> Jasper[m]1: You say "I had the same thing on first boot of the rc kernel"! What exactly did you have after booting from the rc kernel?
<Jasper[m]1> agl7: 1st boot it went through decryption and immediately turned off, then rebooted, decrypted again, showed fsck and booted fine
<agl7> Jasper[m]1: I ran FSCK manually from Debian and 3 binary files were stored in lost+found (of course I don't know which files they are). After that endeavourOS started again, but as selection for the audio device I still have only the "dummy device".
<agl7> I will install again ARCH-Linux at once with the rc-kernel and then EndeavourOS with the shell-script.

<leezu> I've tested 6.4.6 on asurada spherion (mt8192) and it works smoothly overall. Even HW Accel for both Firefox and Chromium seem to work out of the box. So does Wifi (which didn't work yet on the 6.1 collabora tree). But there are still a few issues: 1/ DisplayPort is broken with the following error when connecting a monitor (typec_displayport port0-partner.0: failed to enter
<leezu> mode), 2/ a number of deadlocks are reported during suspend, though suspend itself seems to work (https://termbin.com/i1di), 3/ audio doesn't work (Many errors in the style of "ASoC: no backend DAIs enabled for Capture_4"), 4/ scp doesn't initialize correctly (remoteproc remoteproc0: Direct firmware load for mediatek/mt8192/scp.img failed with error -2,
<leezu> fops_vcodec_open(),174: [MTK_V4L2][ERROR] vpu_load_firmware failed!). If you have any ideas with respect to these or other mt8192 issues, please let me know. cc hexdump0815 your 230109-01 image made this very easy to bootstrap. Thank you for maintaining all these images!

<leezu> Same issues with 6.5-rc3. Full system logs at https://termbin.com/u8lfl in case anyone is curious. Regarding sound, it's supposed to work as of https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/ad5cc915c300d4ea733da80ae714fdad3787af54 but clearly something is still wrong

<clover[m]> i dont want to have to keep rebuilding kernels from scratch as more development happens. i find that easier to do with arch pkgbuilds since you just have to point them at a git repo basically

<_`[m]> yeah I was not familiar, is that why people suffer through the install?
<clover[m]> Idk why people suffer through the install. I guess they can't read a wiki and follow the steps
<Jasper[m]1> <_`[m]> "yeah I was not familiar, is that..." <- From doing the install recently I can say that I struggled a bit with the fact that there's no sane default
<Jasper[m]1> The wiki handholds you up to a certain point until it pushes you into a labrinth full of choices someone doing it for the first time will never know what way to go in

<Bioxvirizm-x13s[m]> <clover[m]> "Idk why people suffer through..." <- Yes, but in your EndeavourOS manual there is no mention of solving bluetooth and sound problems for example, and after installing the OS, one gets lost. For example, it was only your help here that clearly pointed out where to go and what to look for that helped me solve all the problems.
<clover[m]> I wasn't talking about x13s, just arch in general. The x13s should be considered alpha state for linux support at the moment. But once more stuff is upstreamed it will get better I think
<clover[m]> Also arch has a gui installer now, for x86 at least
<clover[m]> I might try porting it for the x13s that could be cool
<Jasper[m]1> clover[m]: It is present on arm64 archiso aswell
<Jasper[m]1> But it crashes a lot
<steev> clover[m]: i'm not sure the official installer will ever "just work" because we need https://github.com/steev/linux/commit/30724dd52a8cb069a27a0ae9813ce6732699bef7 (i *think* ?) and upstream nacked it(i think?) - there was a grub-installer patch https://salsa.debian.org/installer-team/grub-installer/-/merge_requests/5 but that was nacked as well
<steev> the x13s might get a fixed efi bootloader, but other qcom ones (c630, flex5g) won't
<steev> and, i just noticed, our rtc still runs ever so slightly fast (~5 minutes)
<bluerise> Why is this override needed?
<steev> it might not be necessary with qzed's work, once it gets accepted, but it's still wip
