I'm struggling with my x13s, that is to get nixos running on it. I'm trying to use the 6.3.7 kernel from steev, and have added the modules johan mentions in his commit in my initramfs in the order specified. Still the screen goes black after a few seconds. A kernel log (what I have available after reboot) can be found here: https://pastebin.com/dp62aps5
<martiert>
I see there is a Direct firmware load for qcom/sc8280xp/LENOVO/21BX/qcvss8280.mbn failed with error -2 error, but my arch install uses the same kernel, and still does not have that file. And uses the same aarch64-firmware and everything.
<steev>
do you have the firmware in the initramfs?
<steev>
the zap firmware, not the qcvss is for the video decoder, not for the gpu
<steev>
the gpu is something like qcdxkmsuc8280
<steev>
oh that was terrible english - the zap firmware is for the gpu (qcdxkmsuc8280.mbn or whatever), the qcvss8280.mbn is for the video decoder

aaah. Looks like only parts of the firmware is in the initrd. Actually only from the kernel. I'll have to look into how I can pack the rest in then. Thanks a lot steev, that helped :) I just assumed it would of course be there
<steev>
adding in the gpu firmware fixed it up?
<martiert>
trying to figure out how to atm. Just looked through the initrd and saw that it wasn't there
<agl7-x13s>
steev: On my X13s: So far everything works with your 6.4.y kernel, only the sound is still a bit quiet, but it's enough that I get to hear when something is posted in the IRC channels.
<steev>
good to hear. and yeah, audio being quiet is a known thing, not even remotely new
<HdkR>
Anyone reproduce the aquantia NIC issues on X13s? :)
<HdkR>
Since it doesn't even get far enough to test performance issues
<HdkR>
I should probably double check that the issues reproduces at 1gbit network speeds through it, to ensure it is easier to reproduce

I found out why the qcom/a690_gmu.bin is not present in the initrd. When I do modinfo msm, the a690_gmu.bin is not present, neither is the a660_sqe.fw which it tries first. The build system of nix will use modinfo to choose what firmware to include. Is there any way I can include those in that list, or do I then need to modify the kernel source?

i would hope nix would have a way, but who knows with their wierdness
