robclark changed the topic of #aarch64-laptops to: Linux support for AArch64 Laptops (Chrome OS Trogdor Devices - Asus NovaGo TP370QL - HP Envy x2 - Lenovo Mixx 630 - Lenovo Yoga C630 - Lenovo ThinkPad X13s - and various other snapdragon laptops) - https://oftc.irclog.whitequark.org/aarch64-laptops
<steev>
mine definitely works here (but i'm still on 6.3?)
<steev>
can i blame fedora? :P
<dgilmore>
maybe
<dgilmore>
the keyboard shows in the bootlog, but no input device is created in /sys
<steev>
dgilmore: you're missing firmware? lines 890-898 (they are not in the linux firwmare repo as far as i know, and need to be pulled from the windows partition (or they're floating around on github somewhere, i don't have my c630 with me and won't be home til saturday)
<jhovold>
clover[m]: i think we all have the same wifi chip, haven't seen any issues with it on my x13s but i don't hava a modem in that one
<jhovold>
works fine on the crd
<jhovold>
could you post a boot log again from when this happens?
<jhovold>
I'm a bit short on time currently, but i'll try to take a look
<jhovold>
another thing you could try is to disable the modem and see if that makes a difference as another data point

<jhovold>
just disable the corresponding node in the x13s device tree (i.e. &pcie3a)

re: pd-mapper and compressed firmware, looks like jlinton has been doing the "Good Work" and has a PR open to add support to pd-mapper so distros w/ compressed fw work with it out the box dgilmore steev
<altacus>
using. In the dmesg, note that "qcom/sc8280xp/LENOVO/21BX/qcvss8280.mbn failed with error -2" however, if I install the missing firmware, I get a blank screen. Any help would be appreciated.
<bamse>
robclark: fancy, looks reasonable to me...but i guess it tells me that we really should migrate the data from the json into devicetree...
<bamse>
robclark: thanks for the ping though, picked it up
<robclark>
yeah, userspace picking things up from /lib/firmware is a bit unexpected.. but as long as it is happening it is useful if userspace understands the compressed fw.. thx
<_[m]1>
<clover[m]> "i have so many computers... M1..." <- haha yeah I donated my pinebook to the hackerspace here, can't keep hoarding m all
<_[m]1>
<clover[m]> "some people use them. part of my..." <- is that the android emulator? I wanted to suggest it but forgot the name, I'll be domain my pinephine too I think
<clover[m]>
I'd be happy to donate my pinephone and pinebook I think
<clover[m]>
I don't tinker with either anymore

<_[m]1>
some people use them. part of my job is to be on-call though and i can't risk a dropped call or the terrible app compatibility of not having slack / pagerduty immediately available (can workaround this to some extent with waydroid)
<_[m]1>
I'm looking at building a 1U with those quartz modules of. pine64, not too certain for what yet
<bamse>
robclark: it used to be "ok", but in this new world where pd-mapper is the only non-standard tool you need...i don't like it
<bamse>
that's an "ok" with a undertone of "it's a hack"
<Jasper[m]>
@clover did 6.5.0 end up building?
<Jasper[m]>
Did get a new alsa-conf package, but nothing else lol
<clover[m]>
Yeah
<clover[m]>
Yeah I noticed the need also conf too lol
<clover[m]>
s/need/new/
<Jasper[m]>
clover[m]: Ah wait 6.5.0 pushed to non-rc only?
<clover[m]>
Correct
<Jasper[m]>
That explains a lot, I'm still on rc
<Jasper[m]>
Is it worth changing you reckon?
<clover[m]>
Yes
<Jasper[m]>
clover[m]: Tried installing, buy wifi didn't decide to roam so there's no throughput
<Jasper[m]>
Will try again later hahaha
<clover[m]>
Ok :(
<altacus>
I wanted to thank everyone working here. I'm truly excited about having a full featured arm laptop in the x13s running linux. I've tried running linux on a c630 and a pinebook pro (for arm devices) and the x13s is really taking shape!
<Jasper[m]>
<Jasper[m]> "Will try again later hahaha" <- Aaaaaand now it crashed ._.
<Jasper[m]>
At least it didn't mess with the kernel files yet like last time, it should probably be able to recover itself
<steev>
altacus: for my 6.4 and 6.5 the audio things changed (as you noticed), specifically it changed in 6.5, and there were a few rc's that were a bit flakey so i backported the audio changes to 6.4 as well, if you scroll back through the logs, jhovold says what is needed to get audio working with 6.5, those same changes work with 6.4
<abelvesa>
I messed up my audio setup and so I need to know from someone who has that working: is it pipewire or pulseaudio ? is it wireplumber or pipewire-media-session? is it pipewire with alsa or with pulse ?
<abelvesa>
(on x13s)
<abelvesa>
I can see the cards with aplay -l
<abelvesa>
so ucm setup is ok, I guess
<clover[m]>
im using pipewire

steev: I checked all the check ins for 6.4 & 6.5 by jhovold, and I couldn't find any notes about what changed. Is there a specific link you are referring to?
<altacus>
steev: I even rebuilt 6.5 with johan_defconfig and still only a dummy output device for sound.

<steev>
it's in the topic
<steev>
it would have been within the past 6-8 weeks
<altacus>
steve: thank you, I read August's before asking and all I saw was references to updating the firmware, I will keep digging.
