<steev> clover[m]: do you have windows fastboot enabled?
<clover[m]> idk, maybe
<clover[m]> why?
<clover[m]> Taking a look
<clover[m]> i admit that that looked very promising, since i did in fact have fast boot enabled on that machine, but no i am still getting the issue on reboot :(
<altacus> Thank you for the pointers regarding getting the sound to work in 6.5.y on steev's kernel. The chat logs from 7/24 did the trick.
<altacus> I am very impressed by the improvement 6.5.y is over 6.3. The idle state improvements makes a huge difference in being able to use the x13s as a daily driver.
<steev> ayy glad it's working for you :)
<altacus> steev: Thank you for keeping the repo for the kernel, I'm thinking of installing linux on my c630 now :)
<steev> the c630 still has some stuff outside the kernel :(
<altacus> steev: life of a linux user, lol
<steev> truth
<steev> but i do appreciate that they try to get things right before getting it in
<altacus> I'm in the process of documenting these details for the x13s on debian, will post links once they are in better shape.
<steev> the audio firmware is in upstream now (i think) so it's a matter of debian updating their firmware package (which happens a lot faster than it used to these days), likewise i think that srinik has pull requests with the alsa-ucm-conf repo for the fixes too
<altacus> I think the c630 had a lot of potential, but execution left a lot to be desired. Running windows on it is just painful. Once the product is deemed a dud, it's hard to finance more driver development. So given that background, I am encouraged by the fact development is still being done for the c630.
<altacus> A couple of weeks ago, I was really regretting buying the x13s due to the state of the linux development. But I kept digging and finally figured out which repos to look for the latest changes and how to use github. Finding this IRC channel (and logs) completely changed my mind. I'm very excited that development is chugging along.
<altacus> steev: I was debating simply waiting for debian to release the new alsa-ucm packages but I felt adventurous.
<altacus> On a side note, I started playing around with hibernate on the x13s and everything seems to be "hibernating" OK. On resume, it loads the image from swap and then I get a blank screen. I'm not sure how to get the logs for the cause of the blank screen.
<steev> enable ssh, see if you can ssh in
<altacus> pardon my ignorance, with gnome, does gdm3 need to be running in order for the wifi to be active?
<steev> no
<steev> it's handled by networkmanager
<altacus> I was under the impression networkmanager is part of gnome.
<steev> however, gdm3 DOES re-suspend if you don't log back in after X amount of time
<steev> negative
<altacus> OK, I will definitely give this a try
<steev> initially it was, i think, but it has since become a freedesktop project, and other desktops use it and have front ends for it
<altacus> ah, NetworkManager is run by systemd
<steev> on debian, yes
<altacus> steev: how often do patches for the x13s come through? Just trying to set my expectations for when I should check for updates.
<steev> i just watch the patchwork, so i can't say exactly... but the stuff i base on is usually every 2 weeks give or take, depending on a big bug fix
<steev> sometimes someone will say hey, give this a spin, and i see it works well, so i'll push it out so clover can also test it
<altacus> steev: thanks! I'll try to check in biweekly.
<steev> generally... release candidates are good to check in
<HdkR> I assume nothing has changed for Type-C->DP->HDMI audio and lane assignment fixes for high bandwidth panels?
<altacus> are all patches merged into the the .y branch?
<steev> the .y branches are based on stable trees
<steev> those i update whenever stable updates
<altacus> steev: Thanks

<alfredo> Hi,
<alfredo> the latest version of kernel 6.5 supports the Lenovo Flex 5G SoC SC8180X https://cdn.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v6.x/ChangeLog-6.5. I have a Lenovo IdeaPad 5G 14Q8X05 with SoC SC8180XP which is the evolution of the Flex one with the same CPU-GPU, but at higher frequency, with BT 5.1 and WiFi 6 instead of BT 5 and WiFi 5. Do you think it will work? If not, are you going to add support for SC8180XP? Thank you

<jhovold> clover[m]: can you post a boot log from when ath11k fails to probe somewhere?
<jhovold> it seems we need to figure out why only you hit this, and only with your x13s with modem
<jhovold> altacus: hibernation is not supported (yet) so the machine will be dead on resume

<clover[m]> jhovold: I got paranoid that my issue was dual booting windows somehow, so I put in a new ssd, wiped all partitions and started a totally fresh install. Still, wlan0 fails to start on the very first boot after installing my DE: https://pastebin.com/CWHpD0kC

<altacus> jhovold: I will hold off trying to get hibernate to work then. Thank you!
<altacus> clover: Not sure if this helps, but what firmware are you using? I am using the firmware located here https://github.com/kvalo/ath11k-firmware.git and wifi seems stable.
<clover[m]> I think i am using that but will double check. Only my x13s with modem has the unstable wifi on linux
