<Dylanger> Anyone know how you're supposed to setup a boot.img for a Qualcomm device for mainline?

<Dylanger> Ended up giving up on the HDK, it isn't really properly supported for mainline
<krzk> Dylanger: it is... works pretty well, nothing different than RB3 and RB5.
<krzk> setting boot.img and rootfs is exactly the same as for all development boards, so nothing special is needed for HDK.
<Dylanger> Possibly lack of compilation instructions?
<krzk> You compile the same as every other board.
<Dylanger> Also I have the HDK8350
<krzk> There is absolutely nothing different for HDK nor for SM8450.
<Dylanger> It's possible that isn't supported
<krzk> Oh, exactly, HDK8350 are here the same.
<krzk> No, it is not possible, because I was using both without problems.
<Dylanger> Getting that when I zero dtbo
<Dylanger> It's possible you have a more open abl
<Dylanger> Is your script re-signing boot.img?
<krzk> Dylanger: I am not signing anything (so neither re-signing) but indeed I flashed some new vbmeta and others I got from Lantronix or whoever made the HDK8450
<Dylanger> But I think this largely stems from Qualcomm being a little more closed
<krzk> I mean, not like "new new", just whatever was available at that time - so in May 2022.
<Dylanger> Ah that's likely it then
<Dylanger> My version of abl/xbl is prob old
<Dylanger> iirc mine is 2020
<Dylanger> Can you possibly share that update?
<Dylanger> Lantronix don't respond anymore
<krzk> It might require logging in, but my account there is personal (nothing qcom, nothing Linaro), so I assume these are in general public.
<krzk> I cannot share though, because I don't know their license and terms
<Dylanger> I'll try make an account, if it doesn't work tho it'll end up as e-waste sadly, aarch64 Chromebooks are better than HDKs lol
<travmurav[m]> Is the bootloader signed on those things?
<Dylanger> Nah secure boot is disabled
<travmurav[m]> cool, I've heard some qcom devkits come with fuses already blown nowdays :/
<Jasper[m]> <Dylanger> "I'll try make an account, if..." <- You can dump said e-waste right into my mailbox :^)
<Dylanger> 🙃
<Dylanger> lol
<Dylanger> `cat arch/arm64/boot/Image.gz arch/arm64/boot/dts/qcom/sm8350-hdk.dtb > Image+dtb`
<Dylanger> Woo!
<Dylanger> krzk: Cheers, I think I was appending in the wrong order
<Dylanger> Also had to zero dtbo
<Dylanger> root@qemuarm64:~# id
<Dylanger> uid=0(root) gid=0(root) groups=0(root)
<Dylanger> Awesome

<Dylanger> I'll try get Fedora Server aarch64 setup on this, it'll become my new NAS
<Dylanger> Did you ever figure out how the NVMe m.2 ports work? Look like they'd leave it hanging outside the board
