<abelvesa> SpieringAE: yes
<abelvesa> SpieringAE: I've been looking into that during last couple of days
<abelvesa> the usb_2 controller has never been tested before since we never had a board that used it
SpieringsAE has joined #aarch64-laptops
<abelvesa> trying to enable it as we speak
srinik has joined #aarch64-laptops
<SpieringsAE> good to hear you are on it too, I am trying to figure out hdmi right now
<abelvesa> well, that is also on my list, but I need documentation for the realtek converter
<SpieringsAE> it doesn't use the same parade chip as the asus?
<abelvesa> nope
<SpieringsAE> I mean, that one also has 0 docs but yeah
SpieringsAE has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<abelvesa> do you know which parade converter asus used ?
<abelvesa> like, the exact model
SpieringsAE has joined #aarch64-laptops
<SpieringsAE> well I know my asus uses the parade ps185hdm
<abelvesa> thanks
<SpieringsAE> The thing I am not yet clear on is whether or not there is a third ps8830 required for this thing
<abelvesa> nope
<SpieringsAE> I feel like the display port and usb get merged inside the soc, so there is not just dp lanes going to this chip
<SpieringsAE> then why is it and all of its pins in the dsdt
<SpieringsAE> that is the most confusing thing to me
<abelvesa> ps8830 is needed for type-c
<abelvesa> it muxes and retimes
<abelvesa> if the connector is an hdmi, then only converting is needed
<abelvesa> this is what the t14s does as well
<SpieringsAE> so the mdss_dp2_out endpoint must be changed from `&usb_1_ss2_qmpphy_dp_in` to so kind of bridge node?
chrisl has joined #aarch64-laptops
chrisl has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<abelvesa> nope, that part stays the same
<abelvesa> dp out needs to go through the dp phy

<maz> jhovold: just tried your branch on my devkit, and the t14s fix doesn't improve the situation here. Still hangs after EBS.
<maz> though the "Generating empty DTB" may be the problem -- let be check again.

<maz> jhovold: correction: after adding the correct 'devicetree' directive to grub, I as able to boot the kernel with EL2 enabled.
<maz> so whatever this is doing, this is working around something.
<jhovold> maz: that's good news, thanks for confirming
<jhovold> perhaps you can reply to the mail thread as well, should help qualcomm fix the issue if they can reproduce it on the devkit
<dunc4n> does T14s BIOS upgrade still require windows or is there a way to extract the .exe installers, build .cab and flash via capsule using fwupd?
<dunc4n> I guess bootable PE would also do

<travmurav[m]> robclark: I think theoretically all tcblaunch.exe should work but iirc someone had problems until they used the one from the device so it's ideal to use whatever came with yours/close to it yeah
<travmurav[m]> not sure if I have the latest w11 one but lets' see...
<travmurav[m]> ah
<travmurav[m]> perfect
<travmurav[m]> this is whatever devkit shipped with xD

<SpieringsAE> just read that one aswell, barely any info tho :(
<robclark> I was kinda hoping the devkit would be a decent thing to add to mesa+drm CI .. but if the price is right, this thing might do.. but yeah, all depends on info that isn't there yet

<HdkR> If it actually exposes that PCIe slot then it'll be a buy for me :D
<SpieringsAE> would be cool if it has like an oculink connector
<SpieringsAE> btw does the usb4 on these chips actually support pcie tunneling?
<Jasper[m]> @maz have a modicum of hope, mini-pc's are hyper popular these days and some OEMs and ali sellers are making FAT cash off these
<Jasper[m]> They're so popular that some seller was selling N150 pc's before it was even announced
<HdkR> SpieringsAE: Theoretically! :D
<Jasper[m]> Hell that soc is still not on ARK
<maz> Jasper[m]: hope? read the news lately? ;-)

<konradybcio> does anyone have a setup for running same-arch android apps on our beloved clamshells?
<HdkR> konradybcio: Isn't that what waydroid is for?
<konradybcio> heard the name haven't tried it out yet, wondering if you guys had any good experiences
<HdkR> I keep my nose out of Android, can't comment
<tobhe> there used to be anbox but I think that project is dead and now recommending waydroid as a replacement
<Jasper[m]> @konradybcio Android Translation Layer (ATL) has seen some improvements, got conjured up from "the basement"
<deathmist> konradybcio: for X1E waydroid should work with an AArch64-only system/vendorimage (there's some around the telegram/buildable from source always) since we don't have native AArch32
<deathmist> yet to try that though
<konradybcio> ohh i forgot about 32..
<konradybcio> haven't had to think about it for a long long time :D

<deathmist> konradybcio: speecifically https://github.com/waydroid/waydroid/issues/644#issuecomment-1677922061 links somemewhat outdated (Jan 2023) prebuilt ones but that's too old for X1E with MESA nicely printing "unsupported GPU: a000" in "waydroid logcat" output etc, maybe you could just build mesa through ndk and shove it in without rebuilding full images but I'mma stop here :D
<deathmist> the overlayfs mounted from /var/lib/waydroid/overlay/vendor/ etc could come in handy here as you won't necessarily have to edit the images even
