i wonder how freedreno compares to windows blob on x1e

<kuruczgy[m]>
also does qcom have proprietary gpu drivers for linux? (or does android use freedreno?)
<JensGlathe[m]>
I would somehow assume they are the same...?
<travmurav[m]>
android certainly uses proprietary drivers, freedreno is reverse engineering work
<travmurav[m]>
I'd bet there is "android"/"downstream" kernel and gpu blobs somewhere for x1e, just for the testing/validation purposes
<travmurav[m]>
but don't think that's public

Happy holidays to everyone!

Merry Christmas! 🎄

macc24: right now we are missing the higher OPPs for GPU, and some LLCC things aren't dialed in properly with linux.. so I would expect we are slower than blob+windows right now. Once kernel side things are sorted, idk what difference would be. I'd expect blob to be highly tuned for things like gfxbench, but probably for it to be closer for other workloads

Is there actually some kind of monitoring software for the adreno graphics? as in gpu load or something? I was witnessing some weird fps issues with dolphin (emulator), the cpu does not seem to be topping out so I wonder if the gpu is the bottleneck
<travmurav[m]>
just nvtop works for basic load % I think?
<kuruczgy[m]>
Yep, nvtop works for pretty much all drivers now, despite the confusing name.
<SpieringsAE>
that does indeed seem to work, cool, well time to do a little investigating after christmas

spawacz: nvtop.. and then you can build mesa with perfetto support (although that is not quite as turn-key)
