apritzel: do you have an A523? if you do, can you confirm that having "dma-noncoherent" in the GIC and ITS nodes are enough to get the turd going?

<apritzel_>
maz: I have one A523 tablet with *secure-boot* enabled: that stalls mainline development. So I don't have a kernel or U-Boot running yet. I should get a proper devboard very soon, so can test this there then
<apritzel_>
I can run some bare metal code on it, if you have some simple test to confirm something
<apritzel_>
apart from that the series is fishy in many ways, I will reply later today
<apritzel_>
maz: thanks for the heads up!
<maz>
apritzel_: the most obvious symptom would be that LPIs don't work reliably because neither the RDs nor the ITS can snoop the CPU caches.
apritzel_ has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<maz>
but running LPI tests bare metal is a bit tedious, I wouldn't recommend it. in any case, the DT property should normally fix it. hopefully the OP will respond.

apritzel: Are you getting the boards from the pine64 people?
apritzel_ has joined #linux-sunxi
<gamiee>
machinehum : yes, are you interested in getting one too?
<fraolt>
Do you have more details on what's broken? Is it broken on the A64? Do the two patches that Måns mentioned fix it? I'd be interested to see the clk-summary.

A64?

Shane on Conduit.rs ⚡️ and Fractal 🦀️: On Teres-I?

Have you tried 6.6.32?
<machinehum>
gamiee: I would be yeah, I can pay.

Shane on Conduit.rs ⚡️ and Fractal 🦀️: Would be good to know if 6.6.32 works. I'm interested if its the Min/Max changes broke it.
<gamiee>
machinehum : Please, check private message from my another account ( gamiee_ )
<fraolt>
I can't really test the panel because I don't have access to it. It seems there were some changes in the drm drivers in 6.9 as well.
<fraolt>
Shane on Conduit.rs ⚡️ and Fractal 🦀️: If 6.6.32 works works, please be sure to also save the clk-summary as well as the clk-summary on 6.9 for comparison. If it's not the clocks, I'm probably not the right person to look into it.

<macromorgan>
so how much crap would we stir if we changed the Anbernic's PMIC from the RSB bus to the I2C bus (in both U-Boot and Linux, but especially U-Boot)?
<macromorgan>
reason 1, some of the devices have an RTC at address 0x51 on that bus. reason 2, by looking at the i2c bus, mmc1, and gpadc I can determine which of the 5 devices I am working with at runtime (so I could use the same U-Boot bootloader for all 5 devices)
<macromorgan>
unless there is some way to use the RTC via RSB that I'm not aware of

fraolt: does kernel 6.9 have the max freq fix for the A64 clocks?
<fraolt>
diego71: Yes
<fraolt>
Well, 6.9.1 has.
<fraolt>
6.9.1, 6.9.2, 6.9.3,...
apritzel_ has joined #linux-sunxi
<apritzel_>
macromorgan: if the PMIC is the only thing on that bus, we use RSB, that's what Allwinner recommends anyway, and RSB is better in many regards
<apritzel_>
but if there are other I2C only devices on that bus, we of course need to use I2C, see the PineH64
<apritzel_>
that's a thing that should have been mentioned before!
<apritzel_>
but: "our code has issues when using RSB" is not an argument ;-)
<apritzel_>
and RSB seems to be an Allwinner/X-Powers invention that's only used with their AXP PMICs

<tokyovigilante>
apri
<tokyovigilante>
apritzel: macromorgan: this may be resolved easily given the SPL communicates with the AXP over I2C just by directly writing to the IRQ, before the DTS is even loaded and we make a choice what the system proper is using
<tokyovigilante>
so if we just need the outboard RTC to do device detection, that could be done in the SPL driver?
<tokyovigilante>
loki666: that's good news, I think the mainline driver did only include safe bins in the end
<apritzel_>
loki666: also note that there were cpufreq driver changes during development, which demanded DT changes, not sure if you ended up with a bad mixture of both?
