<antonkh> @hauke my package 'geoip-shell' was recently added to the master, it doesn't exist in 22.03. I just submitted a PR to update it, and I'd like to backport the updated package to 22.03 if possible. I suppose submitting patches doesn't apply to this case?

<dwfreed> antonkh: adding a new package to an about-to-be-deprecated version most likely does not make sense
<antonkh> @dwfreed people are still using it, otherwise what's the point of releasing an update for it?
<dwfreed> the official support policy is that 22.03 gets "security fixes only"
<dwfreed> this is going to be the last update before it goes fully EOL (it technically is already past EOL date)
alexdelorenzo has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<Habbie> instead, the availability of that package can be used as an incentive to upgrade :)

<schmars[m]> We're already 1.5 weeks over EOL, that last point release is just a courtesy
<dwfreed> aye
<f00b4r0> good thing we're so courteous then ;)
* f00b4r0 is still on 22.03 on many devices
<dwfreed> I am still on 19.07 on one device
<dwfreed> I probably am going to want to update that one straight to snapshot, so I can get DSA conduits

<schmars[m]> also still have a few 22.03 unifi APs, it's about time i go and flash them back to vanilla so i can upgrade them safely :) (partitioning changes)
<schmars[m]> ah you did say "it technically is already past EOL date" :) quick reading on the go misses important bits :)

<antonkh> I'm still using OpenWrt from 2021 and can't say that I feel that I'm missing much. It works just fine.
<robimarko> It depends on your HW, but you are missing a ton of security fixes

<antonkh> @robimarko ye it's an oldie. WNDR3700 v2 :)
<antonkh> I upgraded RAM on it so it has 128MB. which btw is enough for geoblocking because it's iptables. had I upgraded the OS, 128MB would be too little for that
<jakllsch> here's a $20 get yourself some newer hardware :-)
<antonkh> haha. I'm a repair technician. I like to put old stuff to use.
<antonkh> my server runs on a tablet with a broken display...
* hell__ got a https://openwrt.org/toh/xiaomi/aiot_router_ac2350 to replace a 32/4 TP-Link, is pretty happy about it
<antonkh> btw I submitted this PR if anyone wants to take a look and hopefully get it merged

<Mangix> robimarko: AFAIK Ansuel changed those mwlwifi casts to uintptr_t
<robimarko> Mangix: Is that in the tree?
<Mangix> robimarko: I'm refering to package/kernel/mwlwifi/patches/001-Fix-compilation-warning-with-64-bit-system.patch . It sounds like the patch needs to be expanded
<Mangix> do A53 devices even use mwlwifi?
<robimarko> I have Espressobin Ultra that has MW88W8897 card
<Mangix> sounds like yes. Unfortunate.
<robimarko> I was testing that PR that fixes one of those mwlwifi errors
<robimarko> And indeed it does, however this one appeared after
<Mangix> yeah, it fixes only on 32-bit
<Mangix> codebase needs a cleanup honestly.
<robimarko> Lets be happy that mwlwifi works at all
<Mangix> I have this branch: https://github.com/neheb/mwlwifi/commits/mangix/ . Completely untested.
<robimarko> I pushed that mwlwifi update PR as it doesnt hurt anything
<Mangix> looking at this, no idea why so many casts
<robimarko> Whole driver is full of them
<hell__> maybe they're trying to cast spells to make the driver work :D
