<_DOOM_>
Is there a reason we would want to use another wl_shm_format for a wl_buffer other than argb8888 or xrgb8888, like if the subpixel is bgr would we use abgr8888 instead?

<MrCooper>
_DOOM_: no connection between those two things
<_DOOM_>
Understood, but is there a reason I wouldn't use argb8888 or xrgb8888? And where is subpixel used in? Is it just used for things like font rendering?
<MrCooper>
can't think of any reason, and yes
<_DOOM_>
Cool
<_DOOM_>
Thanks!
<MrCooper>

I've been running with https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/wayland/wayland/-/merge_requests/188 for the last year+, and have not run into any issues with it. Could someone please review it, so we can get it merged, and issue #237 fixed, long before the Wayland 1.23 release freezing starts? (Someone other than me, since I wrote an early version of the code.)
