<Lucy[m]> Hey! Recently checked out the GitHub page to get an idea of what's supported for each device but it didn't seem very up to date. Is there another list somewhere?

<DocGalaxyBlock[m]> <Lucy[m]> "Hey! Recently checked out the..." <- While researching which laptop I want to buy I made a list of WoS laptops.
<DocGalaxyBlock[m]> https://matrix.to/#/!wBGAxqBlmcgDIRjsJf:matrix.org/$_Mlv1-JiUDs7KDMp6CFFYQGcQF0dHw2kHVG-131Fnj8
<DocGalaxyBlock[m]> It is only a hardware list but my plan is to open a github repo where I track the status of those divices.

<DocGalaxyBlock[m]> When I have my repo setup I can share a link instead of this file

<clover[m]> FF 116 is in Arch now. But I am not able to tell much difference in CPU usage, even with h264ify extension enabled. also I don't get 1080p options in FF but I get them in Brave for example. weird
<clover[m]> steev: yeah, whatever you pushed yesterday is working, so i went ahead and shipped 6.4.7 late last night. running it now and speakers working fine. I am noticing with headphones there is some static / white noise fuzzy sound in the background
<clover[m]> same fuzzy sound on the rc4, but it could be my headphones idk
<travmurav[m]> clover: have you checked about:support to see if it shows hw accel as enabled?
<travmurav[m]> also I thiiiiink YT only provides fhd and more resolutions as av1 nowdays
<travmurav[m]> but I guess this would mirror my experience with it
<travmurav[m]> running ff via MOZ_GFX_DEBUG=1 MOZ_LOG="PlatformDecoderModule:5" firefox as suggested in the ff issue for the feature spits out venus but no cpu usage decrease
<clover[m]> here's the output I got: https://pastebin.com/unjRHFn2
<travmurav[m]> is this after trying to play some video?
<travmurav[m]> my logs spam hard when it plays a video, it seems to actually poke the v4l2 m2m plugin and it seems like it says that it decodes at least one frame in hw?
<travmurav[m]> but not sure if later it falls back to sw or it's just ends up being this slow
<travmurav[m]> it for sure tries to do something with the hw decoder at least :D
<clover[m]> yes i played some video and yeah it spams the logs very hard
<travmurav[m]> https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1833354 suggests doing media.ffvpx.enabled = false (use distro ffmpeg) to get vp8/9
<travmurav[m]> well, if I grep the log for m2m it for sure sets the capture/output buggers to the video resolution so I guess something happens?
<travmurav[m]> so maybe it's just not zero-copy magic then or something :/

<clover[m]> quininer: looks like arch got a bump to the new systemd boot. hopefully that works for loading compressed kernels?
<clover[m]> oh i just tried it and it doesn't, lame. so i decided to ship uncompressed kernel (vmlinux) too so sd-boot people can use that
<steev> laaaaaaaaame
<_`[m]> installing arch 🙂
<_`[m]> @clover damn your wiki is gold ❤️
<_`[m]> so ofc I had to go fde btrfs with boot included, bc why not suffer? let's see tomorrow if I can make it work
<clover[m]> thanks
<clover[m]> im going to push a new release sometime this week of the archiso, you might want to wait until that happens
