are these devices have ACPI UEFI support?

<konradybcio>
yes but it only works with windows due to largely device-specific hardcoded windows drivers taking care of the interesting things

Could someone catch me up on what protection domain maps are and some possible reasons of why I don't seem to have them?
<konradybcio>
they are just simple jsn files that tell the software stack which ports to connect together
<konradybcio>
if you lack them, you cloned linux-firmware wrong
<Xyaon>
thank you, i may have missed some neccessary steps...
<Xyaon>
wait, i don't think it has those files for the sc8180x yet
<Xyaon>
hexdump01: I have read your note about the required firmware files for the aspire, but i can't find the *.jsn files in System32/DriverStore/FileRepository on my ideapad 4g, could you give me any advice on how I could get them?
<konradybcio>
oh you have 8180
<Xyaon>
yeah I'm trying to create a dts for the ideapad 4g
<Xyaon>
how can I debug gpu driver loading? I don't get any error messages, just silence after the iommu group add message
alfredo has joined #aarch64-laptops
<konradybcio>
you can probably reuse the existing ones for starters
<konradybcio>
somebody somewhere has the *jsn files for flex 5g
<Xyaon>
I used the ones from the x13s, I didn't get any errors, but it would probably be better to use the flex 5g ones, as its soc is closer to the one in the 4g
<Xyaon>
I have looked in the build / misc / flex 5g files, but it's just the acpi tables

jhovold: I've poked tglx directly, but I'm not sure he'll spot the patch before tomorrow... :-/
<jhovold>
maz: thanks for the quick review, I guess I can poke Linus tomorrow unless I here from tglx before then

jenneron[m]: thank you, did your windows install have these .jsn files in the FileRepository and I just got screwed by lenovo repair, or did you have to extract them from some driver/etc.. ?
<jenneron[m]>
I don't remember
<jenneron[m]>
they might be on modem partition
<Xyaon>
oh, is the 5g ufs?
<jenneron[m]>
or even from another device
<jenneron[m]>
xyaon: yes unfortunately
<Xyaon>
well, I have a c630 that works perfectly fine, but I'm still wasting my time with the ideapad 4g because of the nvme, a full usb port, and the slightly faster soc :P

jenneron[m]: Thank you! I almost can't belive that after being stuck for days, getting those file right was the issue. Wlan just works now, but still need to work out some gpu issues
<jenneron[m]>
xyaon: have you tried to find schematics for it?
<xyaon_>
I have tried to get some info from its acpi tables, and currenty i'm trying to extract gpu firmware files from the windows drivers. if you meant pcb schematics, I haven't yet, but it would be useful for gpio definitions.
<jenneron[m]>
xyaon: the files you're looking for shouldn't be device-specific
<jenneron[m]>
a680_ something
<jenneron[m]>
you can take it from my repo
<xyaon_>
unfortunately mine has the 8c soc, not the 8cx, which has the a675 instead of a680. I don't think there is that big of a difference as i could use the sc8180x drivers and dts definitions fine, but I just want to make sure the gpu isn't failing because of that. The funny thing is that recently I had this laptop repaired and lenovo messed up the firmware files so it now reports as an a680 in windows.
<xyaon_>
I don't even know weather my windows drivers have the a675 or a680 firmware in them
<xyaon_>
I got the device specific recovery image, but for some reason I couldn't find the gpu driver files in it
<xyaon_>
anyways, thanks for the help I really appreciate it! it's getting pretty late here, so i'll log off for now

<steev>
it should be some file that ends in .mbn and should have kmsuc in the name, it has been for all the others
<jenneron[m]>
xyaon_: do you mean that you have USB-A port besides 2 type c?
