In case someone else needs this info; scrolling with the touchpad is a lot smoother in chromium vs firefox. It's a lot closer to macOS-smoothness.
<corion>
Maybe off topic, but I think it's noticeable to anyone going from macOS to asahi.

Not related to asahi per say, though, so apologies if this is indeed OT. :)

I think xinput2 support on ff is hidden behind a compile flag
<mps>
set 'export MOZ_USE_XINPUT2=1' in /etc/profile
<corion>
mps: Was that for me? Doesn't seem to change anything re: ff scrolling.
<mps>
corion: in general, not only for you
<corion>
ah
<mps>
for me that and disabling smooth scroll in FF gives very smooth scrooling
<corion>
And you dont get an overly effective scroll? IE, super fast.
<mps>
well, idk because not looked at other users how it works but for me it very smooth and fast
<corion>
ok

From a development standpoint, when do you think we'll reach beta status?

Hello.. I may have set a grub password in my grub.cfg and forgot the user I used. Which partition am I to mount to get to the grub.cfg
<unknown>
I mounted the EFI already and it obviously didnt have the grub since I believe thats loaded after the EFI partition just dont know which one
<unknown>
I'd perfer not to have to reinstall Asahi since I have shit on Asahi
<unknown>
I have a feeling its the one labeled Linux System
<jacksonchen666>
the one labeled "linux filesystem" is probably the rootfs
<bcrumb>
unknown: /boot/grub/grub.cfg
<bcrumb>
this is linux fs
<bcrumb>
because ESP is mounted under /boot/efi
<unknown>
I know but I need to figure out how to mount the linux system
<unknown>
ext4fuse is read only :(
<bcrumb>
make another small asahi install and mount from there
<unknown>
Which is what I tried to mount root fs
<unknown>
omg lol. true
<bcrumb>
make a base image install
<unknown>
I didnt think of that
<unknown>
Thanks Im so dumb
<unknown>
Merry Christmas btw
<bcrumb>
alarm user password is "alarm"
<bcrumb>
root user password is "root"
<bcrumb>
that would be it
<unknown>
well it would help but my grub is the issue
<unknown>
I put a password on grub itself + the accounts
<unknown>
I know the account one though, just not the flipping grub one
<bcrumb>
yeah so make the base image install and fix what u need to, i just stated the usernames / passwords so you can get into the base image install since it's not calamares assisted
<unknown>
k
<bcrumb>
you can also do a desktop install
<unknown>
oh right
<unknown>
u can install with just shell and not desktop
<unknown>
perfect .. Thanks again!

"To get the new drivers, you need to run the linux-asahi-edge kernel" I see the same version for both packages, did that driver make it to linux-asahi by now, or is -edge built with different settings so it's different even if it's the same version?
<ChaosPrincess>
edge is different .config
<bcrumb>
nicolas17: you basically need to use the edge vmlinuz image
<nicolas17>
alright
<nicolas17>
oddly I installed -edge and it didn't show up in grub, I had to run update-grub manually
<nicolas17>
in debian, installing a kernel always runs update-grub in postinst
<nicolas17>
anyway I'm totally impressed
<nicolas17>
webgl aquarium runs at 60fps
<jannau>
that's for #asahi-alt. #asahi is for officially suported distros
<nicolas17>
jannau: I mean "what I'm used to in Debian" :D
<nicolas17>
I'm running asahi/arch on the mac
<unknown>
Personally been using asahi with a mix of BlackArch ARM
<unknown>
But i pentest for companies as a job and I used to have to use a seperate Linux work machine.. Now I can finally just use my Mac for pentestin

I have to re-plug my usb enclosure after the mac mini is started to let the mac 'see' it. Is there anything wrong with my config? "sudo blkid | grep 2TB1" would return nothing if I dont re-plug
