I want to use gentoo+zfs combo, and I have small alarm partition (10GB)+EFI partition + empty space 200GB. I wanted to have main system on this free space, as far as I can see partitions are in APFS volumes, and i'm a tad-bit stuck as i don't want having my system bricked and judging by APFS container one can't simply use cfdisk and friends in order to create new partition

alarmer: you can make new partitions in the empty space all day long

just can't delete or move any you didn't make

it's not possible to truly brick the system by messing up partitions, but it is possible to lose all data and need another machine to restore to working order

also efistub should be fine. i personally use systemd-boot instead of grub, which boots efistub kernels anyway
