why not just turn the speakers completely off if speakersafetyd isn't working? The DSP is going to be tuned with the safety daemon in mind, so it won't sound all that good, right? Then we'll go back to the argument of no speakers is better than speakers with noDSP b/c bad press or whatever

<j`ey>
surely the dsp stuff doesnt depend on the volume of the output?
<Nefsen402>
I guess the DSP would just think that speakersafetyd is always running, but sees that a constant volume cap is set on all drivers
<Nefsen402>
So in essence, the DSP doesn't know about speakersafetyd, just that the speakers can randomly change in max volume caps
<Nefsen402>
I'm just wondering cause somebody is going to pull down a broken distro without speakersafetyd or something and complain all day that the speakers are quiet without thinking about troubleshooting, while they would with completely silent speakers
<Nefsen402>
Hmm, but the exact same thing can happen with DSP so the argument kinda disproves itself
<Nefsen402>
Alright, I'm just being stupid, everybody can carry on
<Tramtrist>
im sure marcan has thought of all contingencies
<Tramtrist>
not melting speakers by installing 'linux' on a laptop is a big deal
