<enyalios> woo! i finally got sound working on gentoo on my thinkpad x13s
<enyalios> i had to install pipewire, wireplumber, and then compile everything with pulseaudio support
<enyalios> before i had pulseaudio disabled and was trying to have everything just do alsa
<enyalios> im so pumped, the battery life on this newer kernel is bonkers compared to the older ubuntu one i was using
<enyalios> its estimating 16.5 hrs at the current discharge rate
<steev> welcome to the real world

<craftyguy> hmm using this alsa-ucm-conf on the x13s, I still get lots of clicks/pops on the internal speaker. https://github.com/alsa-project/alsa-ucm-conf/pull/335#issuecomment-1741143446
<craftyguy> Is anything else required to resolve those? (I'm using jhovold's 6.6 kernel)
<steev> no idea why but i can't access that url, or even the closed 335 pull request
<steev> i know what it IS, but for some reason github's interface won't let me access it
<broonie> There were some patches that went in during the merge window so will appear at rc1
<steev> we have those in johan and my kernel, and yeah, there's still clicks and pops but not near as many as used to
<Jasper[m]> <steev> "i know what it IS, but for..." <- Yeah it's having issues
<steev> i don't notice it any more than usual
<craftyguy> I hear a really loud pop when I start pipewire/pipewire-pulse, then lots of crackling after.
<craftyguy> just trying to understand if that's "normal" or if I'm missing something else :P
<steev> oh, i don't hear that
<steev> try removing your asound.state file and rebooting?
<craftyguy> I don't have an /etc/asound.state (this one?), I did do 'alsactl init', my understanding is that should clear/reset stored state?
<steev> no, it's /var/lib/asound.state
<steev> er, /var/lib/alsa
<craftyguy> ya that was cleared out too

<_[m]1> if I remember well I needed to install some package pa pipewire smt on arch which removed some other package and it resolved
<_[m]1> but my memory fails me if that was for resolving the clicking

<ak-coram> hey, I just installed linux (steev's 6.6 branch) on my brand new x13s (fully updated firmware) and it seems to be draining the battery even while it's completely powered off: did anyone else experience this? I've tried resetting the bios to the defaults as suggested by some lenovo forum post, but it doesn't do anything :/
<steev> if it's completely powered off, the linux kernel used shouldn't pertain to anything?
<ak-coram> I know, I'm just asking because it might have to do with the way it's powering off maybe?
<ak-coram> maybe it's a faulty one, I don't really know. thought it wouldn't hurt to ask others using it
<steev> if you plug it in while it's powered off, does the power led blink?
<ak-coram> you mean constantly or just for a few seconds? also do you mean the led next to the power button or the one on the lid?
<ak-coram> I've checked an the white led next to the power button blinks for a couple of times right after plugging it in, then stays off
<ak-coram> the charging indicator stays on
<ak-coram> fun thing is: I left it for a couple of days connected to the charger and it still discharged about 50%
<moria> ak-coram: The white led next to the power supply connector on the left of the x13s is always on when the power supply is connected.
<steev> that does not seem right
<steev> i did mean does the white led next to the power button blink, because that means the EC has taken over
<steev> but if it's powered off, and you've plugged it in, and it does the blinking, and still draining.... that's definitely not on the linux side of things
<ak-coram> steev: thanks, maybe I'll send it back via warranty or try the factory reset
<moria> ak-coram: You can try one: There is a small hole in the middle of the underside. You can perform a proper hardware reset there using a bent paper clip.
<ak-coram> moria: thanks, I'll try that too
<moria> ok
