hello. i'm running gentoo on an m1 pro macbook. some time in the last few days, my speaker output has gotten really quiet. down to a whisper with sink volume set to 100%

i'm running speakersafetyd, have please_blow_up_my_speakers=1, and the asahi-audio package installed

it was much louder just a few days ago. i updated various packages and the kernel in that time, but i can't pinpoint exactly what change caused it

the blowup parameter? i added it because it didn't work at all without it. the driver wouldn't set up the alsa controls needed for asahi-audio

i have no clue why. the only difference in the driver is that it sets the platform->enable_speakers bit, which has the same effect as the please_blow_up_my_speakers param

maybe something in userspace reacting to it
