M2-Mini running a 6.6.x kernel (Debian/XFCE) here. Audio question - I have patched (macaudio.c) my M1-Mini as per instructions and sound works. Does the same procedure apply to the M2-Mini also? There is no "j473" entry in macaudio.c. Chadmed? TIA!

@all answering my own question here - found the appropriate string in macaudio.c (macaudio_j37x_j47x_cfg). All is well mea culpa for the disturbance. Back to sleep (for mw) :)

<chadmed>
u154ss: why have you patched macaudio.c
<chadmed>
you should not need to do any patching at all anymore
<chadmed>
all machines are enabled
<j`ey>
you do, -15 still has them all disabled
<mps>
also I had to patch -15
<chadmed>
ah right the lsp plugins patch
<chadmed>
i was like "nnnno you dont i just upgraded" but i have those patches in /etc/portage/patches :p
<j`ey>
:-)
<chadmed>
we should probably just drop that
<chadmed>
the fix has landed
<janneg>
my bump for the gentoo overlay has the patches as well
<chadmed>
yeah noticed that
<chadmed>
has debian got the updated lsp-plugins in?
<chadmed>
i think we can drop the patches if even debian has a "safe" lsp-plugins
<chadmed>
idk how fixes like this get promoted to stable though
<chadmed>
cy8aer: is the lsp-plugins fix in stable?
<janneg>
it's in testing as well
<cy8aer>
No only in testing.
<chadmed>
hm okay
<janneg>
stable is still on 1.2.5
<cy8aer>
right
<cy8aer>
The only way to get it into stable would be a maintained backports package.
<cy8aer>
... and someone who maintains it.
<chadmed>
is anyone actually using any of the stable releases on this platform?
<cy8aer>
Probably everyone who installs Debian from the Glanzmann-installer
<chadmed>
*sigh* okay
<cy8aer>
You need to install it with a live image or swap to testing after installation.
<u154ss>
@chadmed, macaudio.c was indeed virginal. In my case (M2-Mini - Debian 6.6.x), latest lsp-plugins.. the appropriate switch(es) were set to "false" rather than "true.
<chadmed>
right gotcha. didnt realise the kernel was not patched. all good
<u154ss>
@chadmed running Debian Trixie. Bumped it from Glanzmann's original install. All well.
<chadmed>
yeah its just if there are people who could feasibly be running the bad version, we cant really drop the patch and just enable speakers by default
<chadmed>
i think by march-ish we should just do it anyway, ive always said we cant 100% save people from themselves
<u154ss>
@chadmed I went throught the (audio) motions for the M1 Mini, which works. I checked the M2-Mini this morning and the rest is history..
<chadmed>
glad its working now :)
<u154ss>
@chadmed so am I.. Now about those external speakers... :)
<u154ss>
@chadmed my version - lsp-plugins-lv2/testing,now 1.2.14-1 arm64
<chadmed>
yeah thats a working one
<chadmed>
but if people are on stable... theyll not have that

ahdeb[m]: are you sure that you have a kernel with audio patched in?
